Forums - Gaming - who want's to pay $80 a game in the 8th gen

HA! Not a freakin chance.. I can't even stomach paying $50-60 this gen. Maybe like 3 games a year I will spend $50-60 on, if it's a huge title like Galaxy 2, Gears 2, or MH3 that I KNOW I'm going to really enjoy and get lots of hours out of. Most games nowadays I try not to spend any more than $30 on... You have to really have patience and you gotta concede bragging rights of getting a game day one, but it ends up saving you hundreds in the end.

If games ever became $80 I would become a purely budget/ retro gamer.

Not me! I rarely pay full price for console games nowadays so I damn sure won't paying that much. Besides, with my current backlog, I'll be playing 7th gen games well into the 8th gen and will be buying all those games at budget price. Ha!

Nope. I'm glad prices in the US are what they are now. I have a hard time justifying even 25 USD for most games.

Pixel Art can be fun.

That's because you own a Wii.

You'd be surprised.  I can't justify 25 USD for most 360 games either.

well, prices for everything (as well as wages) have increased over the last 2 decades, but games have been very stable in pricing .. inflation probably will kill the industry, because consumers don't understand games are influenced by it as well

I remember paying NES games over 100$CAD. When I received Mega Man 3 for my birthday, my father had to pay 110$CAD, plus taxes.

Prices will go up next gen, that's simply inflation, but I consider us lucky that we don't pay prices as high as the Nintendo era (NES and SNES).

If games go up any higher then I will be waiting for all games to hit 20 unless they are big franchise games. Prices are too high as is.

$60 is to much as is.

Well next gen there will probably be a lot of digital distribution and theoretically the price per game should actually be down from $60 to $48 (not up to $80) since the retailer gets paid $12 per sale. That or it will stay at $60 and publishers will make $12 more per game.

I am perfectly happy with my PS3 and 360 for 3-4 more years. My PS3 keeps surprising me everytime I buy a exclusive, so I will roll with this set up for awhile.
