If you want to do that it's your choice...but why would you limit yourself and miss out on good games?

He'll miss out on the great PS3 exclusives if he doesn't buy and play them.

Ok?  I'm not really sure what your point is.

I'm not saying don't buy exclusives, I'm saying don't ignore multiplatform games because they're not exclusive, that's stupid.

Saying you're going to ignore multiplatform games isn't like saying you'll ignore a certain genre.  If you don't like RPG's because you just don't like RPG's that's cool.  If you don't like that type of game you'll probably miss out on some good games but whatever.  You know what type of game you like and don't like so more power to you.

Saying you'll ignore multiplatform games is stupid.  It isn't some sort of genre, it's just a game on multiple platforms.

If a console owner honestly thinks that there are more than enough quality exclusives of his console to enjoy, there is nothing wrong with that whatsoever.  I'll acknowledge that the list of multi-platform games you posted earlier is impressive with several of them arguably better on the PS3.  But sometimes there are more games than a person has funds and/or time to enjoy.  It's relative.  It seems to me that the OP is pouring his support for SONY games by sticking to their exclusives.  If there aren't enough to satisfy him, yes that would be a dumb move.  But I think SONY has done a great job just with their 1st/2nd party games alone.  So more power to the OP.

According to him though this isn't about funds, it's just he doesn't want to buy anything other than PS3 exclusives just because.  It's cool if that just happens to be the only games you want but to set that limit on yourself on purpose is just stupid.

I'm still interested to hear the answer to the question I asked earlier:

If one of the exclusives he listed earlier that he plans to get suddenly went multiplatform, would he still want it?

If not, then what about the game actually changed?

Like I said earlier, that could be the case for petty reasons.

I wouldn't worry about it because it could be just as petty as limiting yourself on certain games for petty reasons.

The likelyhood of a ps3 going multiplat is the same as mario going multiplat.

I plan on buying nothing but ps3 exclusives because that's all I want, the multiplat games that I do own are the only ones that I was interested in. Unless capcom releases Onimusha, there is a multiplat game coming out that I want and besides that 1st party games have way better quality then multiplat.

We're talking hypothetically here (and it's not that uncommon for an exclusive game to go multiplatform).

Pretend tomorrow the developers of M.A.G. announced the game was coming to the 360 and it would be the same experience on both consoles, what you would you?

Why talk about the impossible?  Zipper is owned by Sony.

Besides, in his first reply, he answered you.

"There are very few multiplat games that interest me (RE5,SC4,FF13) the others that I own have greatly dissapointed me so I'm gonna see how happy I am if I stick to games just for the ps3 since those have really entertained me."

So if he wants to see how far Sony exclusives are going to take him, why question it?  What is it to you if he misses out on some great multiplatform games?  Why not stick to the topic and answer his question?

OT:  Some of my favorite PS3 exclusives are the Ratchet and Clank games, Valkyria Chronicles, and Demon's Souls.

I just picked a random game from his list, again for those of you who refuse to read, it's just a hypothetical question.

And I question it because it's a statement that makes no sense what-so-ever.  If he decided he wasn't going to play a particular genre anymore because he doesn't like that genre, fine, but he's missing out on the majority of the PS3 library because he just...well, I don't know why.  That's what I'm asking.

He says he's stopping on the multiplatform games because the ones he has played has greatly dissapointed him and that's just a stupid statement.  The game wasn't dissapointing because it was multiplatform and just because something is exclusive doesn't mean it can't be dissapointing.

You seem to be glossing over this:  "I'm gonna see how happy I am if I stick to games just for the ps3"

It seems like he just wants to see just how good Sony exclusive games are, and how much fun he can have with them.  He never says that he's swearing off multiplatform games for good.

Hell, he responds to you again, with: "I want to try this is out and see how satisfied I will be at the end of the year."

You seem to be completely ignoring his reason.  It's an EXPERIMENT.  He's not stating a universal truth that multiplatform games aren't worthy of his time.  He's just going to stick with PS3 exclusives for the year, and take a look at what it's like to stick to PS3 exclusives.

Good lord, can't people decide to do something just to try it?  What if I said that I'm going to try not playing video games for a year, and read books instead.  Would you be asking me why the hell I think video games aren't worth my time?

EDIT:  BTW, I know that you were asking a hypothetical question, I was just messing with you.

EDIT 2:  And would you look at that, in the next post, he says that he's not swearing off multiplatform games.

I would get if it ineterested me like RE5 (multiplat game) did but as of right now I don't see any multiplat games released or about to be released that get my attention. Everything that I have in my sights right now is PS3 related, now if capcom releases onimusha best believe I will be all over it. I just see my self buying nothing but Ps3 exclusives this year (though I should be fair and wait for E3) but as of right now there are least 10 exclusives that I want. I can honestly say that when I went into gamestop the first games I grabbed were infamous, MGS4 (gonna go back and get) and the show, I think it's a reasonable assupmtion that single system owners are drawn more to exclusives more than multiplats (haol3 sales and Mario wii sales). Just in case you misunderstand me, I am not swearing off multiplats.

But then it turns from PS3 exclusives only! which doesn't make sense to games on the PS3 I'm interested in only! which makes perfect sense.  In that case, why make the thread?

While on one level I agree with twesterm that strictly limiting yourself to exclusives is rather an odd criteria for game purchases, my own experience with games thus far is that the prioritisation of game purchases is that it's the exclusives that are at the top of my priority purchase list and the multiplats that are towards the bottom.

It's highly likely that I will end up doing what the OP has planned to do, simply because my limited resources must go to the games I have the greatest desire to play, which all happen to be exclusives. If there is a multiplat game I'm likely to buy this year it's Batman:AA, though it's got to wait in line behind Demon's Souls, a Crack in Time, Heavy Rain, GoW III and MNR. And with the kids demanding the purchase of PSMove and the obvious need to buy at least one Move title to make it worthwhile my game buying budget is mightily stretched, to the point that some of my most wanted games might need to be pushed into the 2011 gaming budget.
