Forums - Gaming - So, I was playing this one game and I realized how low gaming has become...

OP fails, I've spent 50+ hours on Oblivion and 20+ on Fallout 3 and Final Fantasy XIII. I'm not even close to halfway done with those listed.

Oblivion you can spend 60+ hours in and still find new quests to do. I don't see how gaming has become low like you say it has.

i'm guessing you are playing Disgaea ?

And RPGs today are still really freaking long. I don't get your point.

I spent 300 hours on Oblivion, including Shivering Isles, and still felt unsatisfied. The dungeons were nice but too short. The boss fights were also meh.

But man, this one game I've been playing had 11 hours in just one dungeon. It took so long...

And a dungeon that only takes an hour or two hours is just short and boring. I'd prefer dungeons that are around 7 hours and with epic storyline fights, those are the most fun.

Like Dragon Quest or SMT Nocturne and sometimes even Tales of.

The game I was playing was Digital Devil Saga 1. And holy hell, is the final dungeon a complete repetitive mess. Really brought the game down for me. I much preferred Nocturne's style of Dungeons.

This game felt like crappy Persona games combined with the True SMT series (of which only actually have 4 games in their name, Nocturne being the third installment).

Seems like a dungeon crawler is your type of game. Me, I kinda hate dungeon crawlers, so I rather not spend 11 hours in a dungeon.

So what RPG's tooday are 11 hours?

Persona 3 and 4 had only one dungeon and i finished it at around 40 hours lolz.

Also, I wouldn't call 11 hours in a single dungeon a good thing.

First off, 11 hours of the same environment and enemies is just boring. Second, is there an actual good reason the dungeon is 11 hours other than they just wanted to pad the length of the game?

I know people like to wave game length like it was penis length, but just because a dungeon takes 11 hours or a game takes 100+ hours doesn't mean it's better than an 8 hour game. Most of those 100+ hour games could have been done in 20 easily.

You like to call it games going downhill, I think it might just be developers getting better at what they do.

It's kind of funny you use game that is ultimate example of dumbing down new games in series to negate his claim.
