Forums - Sony - Splinter Cell: Conviction on PS3 - we tell you when

website:http://www.gamesradar.com/f/splinter-cell-conviction-on-ps3-we-tell-you-when/a-20100416171222772014

There’s been a lot of talk as to when, and even if, Splinter Cell: Conviction will get released on PlayStation 3. First the unannounced PS3 version popped up on a couple of Ubisoft resumes, only to be immediately removed. Then just today VG247 asked a Ubi exec when/if the PS3 will see Conviction. To which he responded with the typical corporate “I dunno/maybe/can’t say?”

Well, you PS3 owners needn’t sulk any longer - GamesRadar can confirm that there’s a 99.999% chance Splinter Cell: Conviction will definitely hit the PS3, and with a sense of history, we can even predict when!

Ask yourself this: How often does Ubisoft release anything exclusively? Rarely. When has Splinter Cell not landed on a PlayStation console? Never. Has Splinter Cell ever appeared on Xbox as a timed exclusive? Several times! Let's look at some US release dates:

*We’re aware Double Agent came out on 360 before the PS3 actually existed, and also that it came out on PS2 at around the same time. But we’re still including it to give us a worst case scenario.

Okay, once we add up the number of days in between the Xbox and PlayStation release dates, we can start to get a better idea of what Splinter Cell: Conviction’s inevitable release date will be on PS3!

This would be a dream come true for me. I'm thinking of buying an Xbox mainly for this game (and Mass Effect 2). Even though people have been calling it a disappointment and that it isn't true to the series, I still want this game like mad since stealth action is my favourite genre in gaming! Can't wait!

why can't this game enjoy its exclusivity? =s , it needs to sell better, the franchise needs it.

- Wasteland - The Mission.

Or in other words, six months exclusivity for Splinter Cell and Double Agent, and three months for Pandora Tomorrow.

I'm thinking Conviction will be 12 months, since MS has gotten 12 month contracts quite a few times this gen. Six months would put the ps3 version out just in time for the holidays, though.

Hm, Bioshock was a 12 month deal, as was Vesperia (though they did announce the port ~six months after the fact - on the first day of the new FY year, actually - and they may have just took awhile porting it), but Ubisoft's titles have thus far been six month deals (Double Agent, Rainbow Six: Vegas), so I guess it could go either way.

They should have listed the number of times the Playstation version of Splinter Cell was better than the Xbox version, too!

Okay. I admit it. I trolled and I'm sorry.

I doubt it will be a 12 month exclusive deal. I dunno how many people would be interested in buying a year old port. Plus I'm presuming it will release against at least 1 major exclusive or multiplatform game.

I think it's probably more likely to be a timed exclusive than a 'true' (console ) exclusive though.

well i think sony is going to announce it at E3, they did say there going to take away some of Microsoft's steam

True, the PS2 versions of all the Splinter Cell games were ass compared to the Xbox versions--smaller levels, dumber enemies, far worse graphics, and a terrible framerate.

OT: As they haven't had many exclusives lately outside of Mass Effect, I'd say Microsoft will do what they can to keep this one exclusive.

Could I trouble you for some maple syrup to go with the plate of roffles you just served up?

i'd like to bold and make these words better because they're so true, even though i am not really the type of person who cares about graphics much, but the PS2 version had to be the very few games that cause your eyes to hurt from playing.

the very exaggerated bloom effects, lightning and the screentearing plus the seizure inducing frame rates had to be the worst! whoever played the game on Xbox should consider themselves lucky.

There's only so much you can do unless you own the IP.  Just look at Ninja Gaiden 2.
