Forums - Sony - Where can I import a Japanese PS3 from?

I've decided that I want a Japanese clear White PS3 as it's much cheaper to import it than buy it from Greece where it's retailed at 500-freakin euros! I looked at play-asia.com but they don't ship to the European Union :(

Anyone knows an import site that ships to EU? I know Onna76 has an imported PS3 maybe you can help me out?

500 euros!? How in the hell is that possible?

I'm referring to the starter pack; but I don't want the 40Gb model, I want backwards compatibility.

Onna would warn you not to.... ;)

Prepare for termination! It is the only logical thing to do, for I am only loyal to Megatron.

 If you get a Japanese one you'll only be able to play Japanese PS2 games, also, isn't the white one the 40Gb?

Don't forget that you may have to pay customs taxes for importing from outside the EU.

                 With regard to Call of Duty 4 having an ultra short single player campaign, I guess it may well have been due to the size limitations of DVD on the XBox 360, one of various limitations multi-platform game designers will have to take into consideration-Mike B

Bet with Harvey Birdman that Lost Odyssey will sell more then Blue dragon did.

Ooppps, yeah I forgot about the Ratchet thing. But the, I prefer a deformed Ratchet than pay double the price. Plus, I can get the crystal White PS3 which is just awesome :)

I think I saw a White 60Gb model. But I was propably wrong. Anyways, if I'm able to play just japanese PS2 games, then screw it. I'm getting the 40Gb one. White is too beautiful to ignore :)

@NJ5

Anyone knows how much (approximately) I'm gonna pay? The PS3 itself is at 283 Euros.

I wouldn't advice you if you wouldn't like to see your American / European games being censured or changed. That's why I've bought myself an European PS3 "as well". Sony Europe will be pleased with me since "ages". I'm a lot less lot pleased and yes I'm keeping my JP PS3 as well, so 2. Cheaper, 40GB version of course, plus 30 Euro discount, I'm crazy, but not that crazy *cough*. Lets hope it will be a great investment for the upcoming 10+ years.

Still if you're planning to buy a JP PS3, just contact me and I'll give you the address from the shop where I've bought it. It cost around 400 Euro including shipping to order there. I didn't have to pay taxes, so if you're lucky, neither do you

And you're not able to play those PS2 / PS games anyway, as the 40GB doesn't have BC and there's no White 60GB version, or else I would have that one too, instead of the black one
