I want to watch this. I want to learn about more about foreign politics.

And yet...I get the feeling this will be as stupid and painful to watch as American politics. Can anybody confirm or deny this before I take the plunge?

It's literally just finished. You may be able to watch it on Youtube or somewhere later. To be honest, if you're not British it probably wouldn't be of much interest. The whole debate has pretty much been on domestic policies.

Closing statement cringe time.

Clegg tries to connect with the audience by repeating the names of everyone who asked a question but has to look at his paper to remember each name.

Brown drops popular tv shows into his speech (he's so cool!)

Cameron talks very well but unfortunately I feel much of it is hot air

Kowen, you're not giving Brown a chance while ignoring Camerons downfalls (like not wanting a fully elected house of lords).

Cameron said he also wanted a fully elected House of Lords... he agreed with Brown

If Brown is so set for it... what the hell has he been doing sbout it for 13 years?

Yeah, Cameron kept driving that point home to Brown. Brown really didn't like it. Although to be fair, I imagine Brown has wanted to do it seriously since the MP expenses scandal... If he wants to do it.

I thought the exact same thing. It made me chuckle.

For us outsiders, which party does each of those in the debate represent?

*edit* I'm assuming:

Brown = Labor

Cameron = LDP

Clegg = Conservative

Or as i posted in another thread... I find it odd that the Liberal Democrats aren't that liberal.

Clegg and Cameron did ok.

Brown didnt.... pretty poor.

But then to be fair to Brown, he has the most to lose from this kind of debate and he lived up to that.

Nobody stood out really though between Cameron and Clegg.

Clegg was better in my opinion. Anyway, Brown went in the underdog pretty much because he is prime minister. It is easy for Clegg and Cameron to say to Brown "Then why haven't you done it? You have the power", and they invoked this several times to get ahead in the debate. Brown couldn't use this argument, immediate disadvantage.

Haha those graph charts were ridiculous!

I find it interesting that UKIP, Labour and Conservative closely mirror our own Republican and Democrat parties in the US.

Oh, and that the Liberal Dems have no American analogue. BNP is scary! It matches Hitler on the test, ha ha.

And here is mine for reference. Just re-took it. I've drifted even further into libertarianism. I mirror Friedman now, awesome!

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

Actually, that same website has Obama and Biden lower... it's got them more like... where the SNP is on the Y axis and the BNP is on the X axis.

Our leftwing are more leftwing then theres... though all you hear is about how conservative the US is.  Really it just boils down to a couple issues people focus on while ignoring the rest of the picture.

I agree. I felt it took Cameron a little while to get going but he put forward his points well in the end. Personally I thought Clegg edged the debate but then I'm biased as I'm somewhat Liberal anyway. I do at least think that there is a difference between all 3 parties now and that there is some choice on offer.

ITV's news poll of the debate puts Clegg on 43%, Cameron on 26% and Brown on 20%. Somehow I don't see that being relected on May 6th
