Forums - Sony - Uncharted 3? Nolan North says to use our 'common sense'

as far as im concerned they can make 10 Uncharted games and as long as the quality remains high i will buy them all! i only ever pay £35-£40 for a new game but when U2 came out i payed £49 and it was so worth it

Can't wait for Uncharted 3. If the series quality remains the same let them make as many as they want!

after playing U2 again just a few days ago I have to say I'm pretty excited about U3 being made (which I think it is).

Though, they better give us something new, and not just new locations.
Maybe expand the stealth aspects of the game or something? I have no idea how they would change things from U2.

Sideline Drake (but don't eliminate him) and bring Elena to the fore. Then make the game that Beyond Good and Evil 2 could have been until it got canned.

The problem with the Uncharted series is that it has no ongoing story. The truly great story driven franchises are ones with a single story that needs to be told over multiple games, while still telling a complete story within each game. My absolute favourite example of this is Legacy of Kain.

I think the series is good for one more game. It seems to be ND's modus operandi: make 3 great games then shift that IP to the side limiting future games to spin-off games and move the main talent on to a new IP.

This is pretty much the gaming industry's homage to series like Indiana Jones. I see no reason to deliver an overarching story because the whole point of Uncharted is to deliver a scripted action / adventure story that is easy to get into without too much background.

Funny you should draw that comparison. Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull is an excellent example of the limited lifespan (quality-wise) of that sort of approach (well that and letting Spielberg loose on the franchise with his alien fetish). If the inspiration for this series is only good for 3 quality turn outs then that doesn't bode well for the homage.

If I was into betting I'd be willing to bet right now that U3 will not measure up to the critical and public acclaim of U2 and it won't measure up to the critical and public acclaim U:DF should have got. It'll still be a good game in its own right, and it will be a visual feast but it the franchise has peaked. I would LOVE to be proved wrong and I really hope I am.

Ah but those 3 individual Indiana Jones were just as good as a trilogy of lets say Lord of the Ring, they are simply different approach. So what if the 4th is bad, its one example off a director gone loopy. It doesn't mean a franchise can't be episodoc in nature and not be revived with zest. Case in point: Rocky.

And having a single story string doesn't neccessarily guarantee a fantastic story throughout the franchise. Case in point: Matrix.

Cash cow's gotta be milked.

Or you could look at it as making another great game after Uncharted 2 won pretty much every goty award...

But the reason U3 will be (has been) green lit isn't because U2 won goty's, it's because it is a sales success and Sony/ND want to cash in on that success some more. Simple business.

Let's wait and see before we attribute greatness to U3.

Well it's not milking, it is the continuation of a franchise, it is certainly not being over done

Has anyone noticed how much Joe Flanigan from Stargate Atlantis is like Nathan Drake?

If there is any Uncharted movie planning to shoot,he's the perfect choice,IMO.

Jak and Daxter now! , screw uncharted.

- Wasteland - The Mission.

Has to continue so it'll get more sales

                                       That's Gordon Freeman in "Real-Life"

I guess this means there won't be an Uncharted 3 then. Sad.

If there is though, I just hope there are some puzzles that are too difficult for a retarded monkey to complete with ease.

Given the improvements from Uncharted to Uncharted 2 and ND ethos for excellence I think it's very unlikely we're going to see an Uncharted 3 rushed out as a cash in.  I'm pretty confident from ND's past performance an approach they will try very hard to make Uncharted 3 even better than Uncharted 2.

Sure it's a business decision, but these guys aren't Activision pushing out Guiter Hero titles until they oversaturate the market, they're clearly in it for the love of the game too.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...
