Each of the Big 3 will release the next iteration in it's respective flagship franchise this year (probably) and all 3 have massive sales expectations.  Which do you think will sell the most world wide in it's first week?

I recently made a poll asking the same thing about American preorders and the winner was Halo: Reach by a long shot.  I'm curious if world wide sales would make a big enough difference to give one of the other 2 games the edge.  It is obvious that both SMG2 and GT5 will do much better than Halo in Japan so Others may be the wild card here.

Again, if a similar poll has been conducted, I apologize.

Halo: reach without a doubt.

For GT5, its really hard to tell, wonder where all those racing game fans all went to...

1st week: Halo reach, I think 4 million isn't out of the question, 3 million almost for sure.
Lifetime: Very close between GT5 and Halo:Reach, I could see them both doing 11 million.
SMG2 will probably do half those numbers.

For me the sales of Halo: Reach will not be the same level of Halo 3.

How do you figure?  According to VGC: Halo 3 sold 10.93 mil, SMG sold 8.58 mil and GT4 sold 10.53.

I think this is going to be a lot closer than everyone thinks.

Ahh, should have checked SMG's numbers first. I may have confunsed it with something else. You're right about it being closer long term, but I still think Reach wins out week one, Wii games and GT games are about legs.

Halo: ODST (which is sorta an expansion, and typically called that by fanboys for console war fodder) sold 2.2m 1st week. Halo 2 & 3 both broke 3.3m 1st week.

Mario galaxy does not stand a chance as it will probably only get ~1m, so no reason to discuss this.

Gran Turismo did 2.5m for GT4. Other games don't have weekly sales, but I have no reason to believe that other games did much more than that. Maybe 3m 1st week for GT3. However, GT3 sold more in Japan than GT4 with a smaller 1st week, so maybe the hype for GT4 was higher because of GT3, so we really don't know if GT3 sold more 1st week.

the Halo series has shown it can pull +3m 1st weeks for main games, and I doubt that trend is going to stop. While not having full information on GT it seems the sales tend to be sustained over a longer period of time. So I think GT can do over 2m 1st week, while Halo will do over 3m.

Winner Halo:Reach.

Halo: Reach because Microsoft is great at hyping their games.
