Kingdom Hearts II: Great game. This was such an improvement over KH1. The camera & controls weren't annoying, the gummi ship sections were fun to play, gameplay was solid and the music and visuals were nice. The only thing I didn't like was the story; I have no clue what the hell is going on in the KH story. The story became a convoluted mess after the first Kingdom Hearts. Also, the Organization XIII were a bunch of nobodies :P - no character development, etc. All-in-all, it's my second favorite action-RPG on the PS2.

Final Fantasy XII: I thought this was an excellent game - my #4 FF game. I loved the gameplay and how big the world is. I easily spent over 100 hours on my first playthrough; there were so many things to do. The story bored me a couple of times though, and some of the characters were lame or had weak character development (Vaan, Penelo and Basch).

Top 10 RPG for PS family

Valkyria Chronicle
Persona 4
Persona 3
Kingdom Heart
Kingdom Heart 2
Chrono Cross
Parasite Eve
Final Fantasy VII
Final Fantasy XII
Final Fantasy XIII

You just made me want to play FFX-2 again! Such a great game imo, gameplay and music is top notch and the story is actually pretty good too if you take your time to get into the game imo.

Oh btw, there are more than 3 endings, As far as I remember there are a total of 6, although some of them are quite similiar (bad, 2x normal, 2x good, perfect). Only think I got 4 of them myself though.

Kingdom Hearts II is a masterpiece, it improved in every area except difficulty, imo, it was too easy compared to the first. Everything else was great.

The best RPG on PlayStation Systems in FFXIII, followed closely by FFX, followed closely by Elder Scrolls IV : Oblivion

And just to annoy dtewi, FF8 is an awesome game!

EDIT:

oh FFX-2 is good, but just good for a FF game (semi main series) isn't good enough I'm afraid. Loads of elements put me off this game, for one thing imo they destroyed Yuna :(

Dude.......how many rpgs have you played? Final Fantasy XIII is a great game and all, but lets be real, its is FAR from the best rpg the playstation systems has to offer.

I'm sure you've heard of the word "opinion" before? Thats my opinion. Besides you called and RPG apart from FF6 the best RPG ever, lets face it no RPG ever is gonna come to FF6 levels

LMAO, what don't you play Xenogears before you say something like that. But really know, are you actually telling me that Final Fantasy XIII is better then all of the masterpiece rpgs the playstation systems had?

Why are you asking me what I have already stated? {news flash} it aint gonna change. There's nothing more annoying than people refusing to believe their childhood masterpieces can be topped. I get the same response like you gave me when I say MGS4 is the best game ever, but oh well that isn';t going to change the said experience I had with those games.

And many people found xenogears story overly convoluted & disliked it, I listened to IGN's podcast beyond a few weeks back and they weren't exactly saying really great things about it, one of them said "The intro CGI to it was great, too bad the game wasn't that great".

@mjk45

Persona 4 was an extremely dull & boring game, I found most of the social elements annoying, I prefer a more direct approach, the characters nor the storyline really got to me, the whole school thing was so boring, I played 6 hours and got bored......

then a month back someone here convinced me to try shin megami tensei on DS I tried the shin megami tensei devil survivor game for DS and loved it, it had a much more gripping storyline, better music, but most importantly gripping storyline. And now SMT Strange Journey looks to even top that. In comparison Persona 4 was a bore.

My top 10 PS Family

Are these just JRPG's Cause I'd include Fallout and Oblivioun. Also Does PSP Count. And Does Like FF6 Count because of Anthology
Top to bottom
1.FFX with FFX-2 Amazing universe for me
2.FF8
3.Deus Ex Conspiracy (FPS RPG? count) (I cheated I played the PC Version)
4.FF13
5.FF7 & FF7 Crisis Core they should be one game. :D If they arent' they both go down. And if it includes Dirge = not on list :P
6.Chrono Chross
7.Xenogears
8.Fallout 3 (I did PC version)
9.FFIX
10.Persona 3 FES (Never want to play another persona game again persona 4 was worse, everything, for me. But I like shooting guns at the head more)

And these are all so close, from 3-10 for me, they're extremely close, The top 2 are easily my favorites. This is my opinion obviously

@thelifatree

I think we aren't counting "re-releases" like FF6

cus then it would be unfair on all the other RPG's released on Playstation, FF6 > All.

I wouldn't put it that high, for me. But I know for you its #1 and that's all that matters.

unless you want to live in 1984 and get told what to like :P))

So since we are discussing FFXII, here are my thoughts on the game:

It came after a LOOOOOOONG wait. And surprisingly I didn't get it on launch day as I was saving up for a PS3 then. But I got it soon after.

Initially I was massively disappointed, its characters, story, music felt just not right, but the main trouble was the battle system.

Then I read a few guides online and restarted it playing properly & I really enjoyed it. THe gameplay was cool, the voice acting surprisingly good, but most importantly the presentation of the world & open environments felt so awesome.

Overall 9.0/10.0

It has the worst music, characters and story in a FF game, but even then they aren' t too bad.

Unfortunately Elder Scrolls IV : Oblivion came out in the same year & topped it big time, its the first time a RPG apart from an FF in the same year amazed me more.

While FF12 was good I would prefer it if the main FF franchise stayed in the hands of Team FFX.

And the music, wasn't by Himizu or Uematsu. (besides the title track.) I want Uematsu  back possibly with himizu Although I would want no different soundtrack than the soundtrack FFXIII got for it.

Well, Vaan looked like tidus, and Ashe Looked like Yuna... The story was actually... Good, not Extraordinary, it was just paced like a turtle.. But the director said the staff was conflicted because it was mixed between Playonline staff and others.

The battle system, was brilliant to me atleast... beings im an engineering student you just created basic conditions. The problem to me is it didn't look flashy, but hey, Dragon Age modified their battlesystem with what FFXII did and I liked it. I didn't play dragon age on ps3 and I heard that it ran like turd.

And RPG's I want to add but can't is \

Vagrant Story
Dark Cloud 2 (does that count)
Xenosaga

And I think Valkyria Chronicles... is about, I'd include it if it wasn't for that damn pig, and that singing. :)
