Am I the only one who liked some of the linear chapters in FF13 more than Chapter 11?

Namely Chapter 7, 6 & 3.

Hell if the whole game was as epic as Chapter 7 was this would be my best game of all time....but then you have chapter 1, 2 & 10 which ruin some of it LOL!

Apart from the battle system, the linearity of the game was by far my favorite part of it.  A story such as the one told in FF13 just would not work if they did not force you along the path.  I do like how they gave you the option tho (in chapter 11) to go exploring if you wanted too.  I sure as hell didnt tho :)  Story was to good.

It is like a good novel.  Sometimes you just want to experience someone elses story, not be in it yourself.  Having choices is great and all, but it is definitely refreshing once in awhile to not have to make any (I do enough of this on a day to day basis)

I loved the linearity too!

And I did decide to explore a bit in Chapter 11.

I wished they could let us play through the first XIII days though....liked you could play the scene where you got to find serah on the beach....I really liked that bit of the game!

I tend to never explore/play minigames in FF's cus the stories are so engrossing & like you I just prefer to get on with the game to find out what happens next.

I was hoping to atleast get to watch more about the first XIII days.  Put all the different videos together (with some things added of course) and play them all from start to finish.  I did enjoy how they jumped around while explaining them tho.

I love Minigames.  I think I played more Blizball in FFX than the actual game.  Loved it.  Funny that the lack of any minigame did not bother me at all.  Going through the story I never once just sat and said," I need something else to do"  Was that good.  Still not above Demon's Souls as my favorite game this gen, but its damn close.

Minigames are better in Suikoden anyway :)

Oh I hate most FF minigames lol. Even Blitzball which I just couldn't get into no matter how I hard I tried.

The FF minigames I liked were Triple Triad and ermmm thats about it!

But hey Yakuza 3 minigames rule! lol

I have never been able to finish FF8 so I never got into Triple Triad (Have a deal with Robo tho, he is going to play FF12 and Ill finish FF8 this time :)  I did really enjoy Tetra Master in FF9.

Not even sure I would call Blizball a minigame.  It was to much for something I would consider a minigame (cannot think of any other "minigame" i have spent that much time on).

in terms of minigames in ff games, i enjoyed the lighting dodge in ff10 , but i got annoyed with the bird dodging in ff10 for tidus ultimate weapon that 0.00 time .

FF8, is weird, it's my favoritish, but I doubt you'll like it if you didn't. I loved , FF9 more than FF6 so I'll probably get flamed for that. haha

dude no hate from me lol, im just glad someone else besides me feels that FF9 was just as awesome as FF6 or better in their opinion.  too many ppl hate on FF9 for no reason i feel.  to me no other FF game no matter how great they are will never touch or take the place of these 3 for me

1  FF 6

2  FF 9

3  FF 4

I think ... 9 was partially, because it wasn't at all like FF7 (atmosphere etc), 8 kinda was.

I thought the futuristic trend started with 6 (kinda had both imo), then 7, then 8,

but then 10 wasn't futuristic besides like 10 minutes and lots of people loved that, and 12, well it wasn't futuristic, except for the star wars aspects :P, and 13... duh :D

sorry for my thoughts i was just bored

hahaha its cool im just glad i can have civil discussions without it turning into a war like it does on N4G.  the reason why i love 9 so much is because it went back to the old FF style and ditched the futuristic feeling.  i love 10 and 12(not sure why everyone hate this one but to each their own).  with 13 i loved the combat but was disappointed that it took all game for it to open up like it did, thats when it started feeling like a FF game to me.

yeah, I hated it at the time (I was with the 7 an 8) people... :P But now I love it, because I tried playing it the second time, just so I could see how much it sucks, and then I was like, :-/ Oops I'm wrong

12 is the only final Fantasy, I don't love for 3 reasons. I still like it more than most other ps2 games though. but
1. Vaan looks like tidus, and ashe looks like yuna, more so than the tifa, rinoa, garnet, yuna did. (which speaking I was happy Lightning had pink hair no black hair!)
2. It had a a story atleast to me that was the around the average final fantasy, but it was paced worse. It had better dialogue, than say 13, it just well to me, it was paced like how often you get dialogue, worse than any of the ones 4-13. And for you that could not be a problem, I just like banter :P
3. Archades = Corscont (Not sure if you like star wars)

I can't play 1, 2, 3, 5 though (just can't) cause, well I bought them, but i dunno

maybe if they gave the older ones a graphically update it just might change how you feel about them.

Yeah I got SO4:TLH

I really like it, fun combat, cool story.

Seriously I don't get all the whining that went on, sometimes I can't but help slightly believe what this guy on kotaku said:

"All JRPG fans do is moan & whine...no wonder their genre is dying"

I don't see how SO4 deserved that much moaning and whining, its a quality game & RPG

I cannot agree more... Im gonna make a thread on this pretty soon

I dunno, its possible, But I liked the 2d version of FFIV, better, because i hated the 3d version. the character models looked stupid, the 3d was the worse 3d in any FF7 worse than 7, and I just hated the 3d versoin. If I would have played that first I would have hated FFIV, well except rydia when shes grown up in 3d is hot.
