What? Was that a real ad?!

afaik yes, this was a real ad.

More things related to this may've pushed me over the fence into getting a PS3...

Nintendo's advertising has annihilated the other two in a lot of ways.

Despite Kevin Butler, Sony should end up with negative points for the PS3 baby ads.

Why does everyone hate those ads?

What is the heck is Sony trying to communicate with THIS ad?

That is the baby ad.  Kevin Butler single-handledly made Sony competitive in the ad race.  I actually like Sony to some extent alone by the Kevin Butler spot.

As far as voting, I am going to have to pass here on which one is superior.

How in the world is Sony winning this poll? Are we completely ignoring all their commercials before 2009?

Anyway, I think Microsoft and a lot of their games are heavily frontloaded, so they do seem to work.

This site is has Sony partisans like 2:1 compared to everything else.   Besides this, Kevin Butler is one of the top five ad campaigns EVER related to videogames.  Yes, Kevin Butler is that awesome.  If you were to go one ad campaign alone, that wins it for Sony.  If it is the entire ad campaigns, I am not sure.  Nintendo is effective, and Microsoft gets epic with their ads for Gears and also Halo.

I gotta go with Sony's Kevin Butler commercials. Hilarious.

Special mention to Nintendo's NSMBWii commercial. Thought that was pretty well done too.
Did not like the Wii would like to play ads. Just didn't get me.

I know Microsoft had some good commercials, but to me, nothing really memorable.

I would consider the "Mad World" spot for Gears of War to be a landmark in advertising for a single ad advertising a video game:

This ad has been lampooned and has been noted a lot.  It is very effective at what it does.  The Kevin Butler spots AS A CAMPAIGN are also excellent, in a different way.

Well, that's easy. Nintendo hasn't had a campaign since launching the Wii, and I don't think Microsoft's ever had one either. The Kevin Butler ads are funny, but not nearly as the majority of this site thinks they are, but that's just my opinion.

themanwithnoname's law: As an America's sales or NPD thread grows longer, the probabilty of the comment "America = World" [sarcasticly] being made approaches 1.

Early on I did like the "Wii would like to play" commercials, but currently the Ps3 ad campaign is really effective and likable.
