So, Which is the better car?

196 Plymouth GTO! 4 33.33%

1969 Pontiac Barracuda! 4 33.33%

1978 Transam firebird 4 33.33%

Total:12

GTO

Barracuda

Firebird

I’m having a bit of a disagreement in the office about this. My vote goes to the Barracuda but the GTO is a close run thing. The Firebird is a work mates who is a little obsessed with Burt.

My bad, for some reason i mixed the names up a little. Arse

Pontiac GTO

Plymouth Barracuda

No idea, I'm not really a classic muscle car guy. I'm more a European sports car type guy.

well, I'm not sure what I voted for. I wanted to vote for the Plymouth Barracuda, but the options doesn't exist.

I personally don't like Pontiacs, so I had to click the 1st option. However, I guess the 2nd option is closer as it has the right year and make compared to the 1st option only having the right model

If you drop a PS3 right on top of a Wii, it would definitely defeat it. Not so sure about the Xbox360. - mancandy

Well, I can only go off of looks, because I know zero about performance of cars prior to the late 80's, but the Goat wins in that competition for sure. The 60's GTO is still one of the coolest cars ever made. The firebird isn't even close, looks too much like the generic firebirds of the 80's-early 90s.

yack muscle cars, give me a nice rally import

Subaru Impreza or Mitsubishi Eclispe ftw

Subaru Impreza or Mitsubishi Eclispe ftw

Nissan Skyline. That is all.

GTO was the best in terms of racing history (track or strip), and it's my favorite in terms of looks, so I'ma have to go with GTO.

@O-D-C: Wait a second. Did you just... yes, you did. Please don't give your opinion on things you know nothing about. It makes you look unintelligent, and I know you're a pretty smart guy.

Look, there is a very valid car for car enthusiasts by both Subaru and Mitsubishi. Admittedly, both are tuned econoboxes (which makes complaining about a Muscle Car a bit hypocritical), but they're still a lot of fun. The normal Impreza and the Eclipse are the WRONG ones. The normal Impreza is the Subie Econbox. Hardly inspiring. If you had said the Impreza STI, I'd agree it's a great car, but disagree about thinking it's superior to a muscle car (since the concepts are so similar).

The Eclipse is just WRONG. It's not even a "rally import." It's FWD. I pray you know what that means. It's a joke. It's not even "sporty." It's like an Audi TT--a hairdresser's car--but much uglier. The correct answer is the Mitsubish Lancer Evolution. It's also a tuned econobox like the STI.

@CommonMan: The Nissan Skyline has been likened to a Japanese muscle car, haha. At 3400 lbs, it's a bit of a pig.

True that, though it's a very obvious example of the differing techniques for making a "Muscle car", one nation makes a super-high tech 3.5 liter 6 cylinder with turbo's and a host of electronic do-dad's to make the suspension and tuning perfect (japan), and another nation shoves as much displacement under the hood as they can and crank the gearing up (America). I'm not saying either is better, it's just such a funny display of the different design principles in our countries.

Yea. When I was a kid, I wanted a Ford RS200. 4 cylinder with 450hp. AWD. 0-60 in 2.8 seconds. That's a rally car.

That's kind of apples to oranges, though.  Muscle cars are from the 60s.  The Skyline was mostly known (although it was in production for longer) for the 90s and early 00s.

Any car can be tuned to go fast.  I don't think that really says anything about the production car.  Have you seen the 1963 Corvette Grand Sport?  Completely different beast from the regular 63 Corvette.  It dominated every race it entered.  That doesn't say anything about the C2 Corvettes, though (granted, they're awesome nonetheless)).
