Forums - Sony - New Valkyrie of the Battlefield Video (Action RPG)

Lots of new footage about the new Action RPG for the ps3...Valkyrie of the Battlefield. I know some are really excited about this game, but I can't drum up any feelings at all.

It just looks so darn "childish." I hate the art direction--It almost looks like an oil painting or something. I can't help but prefer the horsepower of "realistic" graphics. Oh well, different strokes for different folks.

Well, all complaints will cease to exist for me once Final Fantasy XIII comes out--I'll be the happiest fellow in the whole wide world!  But this game just look, blah....

Well, I now only have access to a PS3 & 360...Plan on buying a wii soon (lol, if I can ever find one available!) but will probably wait until some of the major RPG's come out like Dragon Quest & Tales, etc.

Anyhow, I'm so far behind in games to play that I'm not in a huge hurry (lol, haven't even gotten a chance to finish God of War II yet!)

They turned it into an Action RPG? Last time i checked it was a SRPG.

Yeah, after checking the video that's still a strategy RPG, it's just one with a cover system. It's like "Future Tactics" on the gamecube play wise. Cept they didn't have a cover system.

Another reason why the PS3 is going to be RPG king.

It looks great, and it seems that some of Sega's best devolopers are working on it.

Another reason? I suppose your other reasons are Final Fantasy and... um... Final Fantasy? =P

Anyway, I really cant drum up much excitement for this game either. It just doesn't look like anything special.

"'Casual games' are something the 'Game Industry' invented to explain away the Wii success instead of actually listening or looking at what Nintendo did. There is no 'casual strategy' from Nintendo. 'Accessible strategy', yes, but ‘casual gamers’ is just the 'Game Industry''s polite way of saying what they feel: 'retarded gamers'."

@Garcian Smith- Folklore and White Knight Story?

Oh wait "Proud member of the Wii60 club"- explains a lot :)

There is a very unusual look to this game that makes it stand out. I have no taste for Japanese games at all though.

Apart from Onimusha!!

Folklore? I haven't played it, but it's 70s-80s game....

No, but some of the reasons could be Final Fantasy XIII, Final Fantasy versus XIII, White Knight Story, Disgaea 3, Valkyrie of the Battlefield, Star Ocean IV (Likely) and of course the best Level 5 support and the 20+ J-RPGs that are currently in devolopement for the PS3.

i wouldnt say 20+,but there are quite a few

How can I name them all if there names aren't even anounced?

It's just known that there are plenty of RPGs under devolopement for the PS3, though a lot of them will be mediocre.

Well the cover system in a SRPG is new for one.

Well... new to this AND Operation Darkness intresteingly.  To me they look about the same gameplay wise, with different art and settings.

WW2 with Werewolves beats this as far as i'm concerned but they're both on my "Must by list' assuming Valkyrie of the Battlefield comes to the US.

So far it's my only "must have" on the PS3.
