Ever purchase a game SO BAD that you couldn't finish it?

If YES, explain: 188 89.95%

Nope. 21 10.05%

Total:209

For me, it was a game, that won many Game of the Year Awards. Oblivion

That game is so bad at storytelling... I was speechless... And the level system was also pretty bad.... Overall, if I have to rate Oblivion with two words, it would be "simply boring".

Well, since Oblivion offers so much content, I also could call it "endless boredom". I had to sell it after playing more than 30 hours. I really tried to get into the game, but it's just too boring to handle.

Maybe i just can't stand the sandbox style... But I just expect a great story in a console RPG.

I've had plenty of games that I've never finished, but only a few was because they were truly terrible. Most I will eventually get back into and finish, but at a later date. I'm pretty forgiving of games, hell I finished Haze and didn't mind it.

Main one that comes to mind is Dark Kingdom. I bought this from Play-Asia because it was only $20, but the graphics are terrible, the story is laughable, and its just so not fun that I ejected it from my PS3 in disgust.

Other one was DMC4. Made the mistake of getting this game even though I haven't played the previous ones, because everyone else was saying how good it was. Damn I hated the game, it simply didn't click with me at all.

Most recent game to have it occur, Lair. Before that Alone in the Dark 360, happens to me quite often. I play a lot of B games.

Storm Rise

I hated it so much, I stopped after 5 minutes. :/

May the adjustments be with you

I feel a disturbance in the sales

Never for me. All the games I've bought are good.

Not impressive if you never bought one =p;   You parents did.

KillZone 2. Worst game I purchase by FAR this gen.

Orange box- ps3
Boring half life- graphical issues
Tf2- lag and massive loading times.

Yeap quite a few. Some are still in my collection.

Suikoden Tactics - I buy everything that says Suikoden on it and usually enjoy it, but I felt this was a stinker of a SRPG

Any version of Final Fantasy 2 - Not the FF2 US version. I am talking about the FF2 NES versions on any collection. This Final Fantasy is just crap compared to the rest. I can never get through the first area and I just give up! I wish it was just standard affair like FF1 was. Craptastic.

Far Cry Vengeance - Since I paid almost nothing for it It's not a big loss. This game is so bad that the first cut scene looks like It was rendered on N64 hardware. The controls are OK, but the graphics are such an eye sore and the AI is so bad It's hard to play more then 10 minutes at a time.

Various 360 JRPGs - The Last Remnant being the biggest casualty. Even with the game installed to HDD the frame rate dips so bad, and I find the whole game in general mediocre. Luckily my wife enjoyed the game quite a bit, so she ended up getting 900/1000 gamescore and made the purchase still worth while.

Theres other games I haven't beaten in my collection, but none besides those that I could think I'll never touch again but will remain in my collection still.

It's just that simple.

People really beat every game they buy? I never got around to beating the majority of my NES, and SNES games! I usually beat around half the games I buy, but never get around to finishing a good chunk of them! Sometimes it because the games are just plain bad like Little Big Planet and sometimes something new comes along and I just never go back to a game such as I did with Metroid Prime Corruption!

I doubt it. I'm pretty sure this is just a "hardcore" thing - I bet most people regularly buy games without completing them. How many people actually completed, say, GTA: San Andreas?

It's not uncommon that I don't finish a game, but that doesn't always mean I disliked it or regret buying it. I put over 40hrs into FFXII without beating it, as I didn't care for the story but enjoyed doing the side quests. As long as the price matches the amount of enjoyment I get out of a game, I'm satisfied. Some games I never beat are more enjoyable than others that I finish.

If we were in the 16-bit era or earlier, I don't think this question would be asked (or at least, worded in such a way).

edit:
Contributing to the thread...

MadWorld - Boring as hell. I forced myself to play 3 hours of this, and couldn't take any more. Regretted buying it (for $11 even), I blame reviews.
Resistance 2 - The 2 player split screen online couldn't save this thing from being an awful game. What can I say, I didn't have a 360 at the time...
Tales of Symphonia: DotNW - Emil. (Though I did follow it up on youtube..)

Yes and there a few games I bought recently.

Yakuza 3, people ain't gonna like this but the games boring as hell and the graphics are shit. I can barley get through an hours gameplay before turning it off. The combats great but all that reading for a game in this gen and long boring stories just put me off.

White Knight Chronicles, This is another boring ass game that I can only play for an hour or 2 at a time before turning it off. The dungeons are to big with the same 3 enemies in each and the treasure you find while searching the dungeons is crap. Its a very unrewarding game.

Jason Rise of the argonauts, The same reason as the above 2. The game was boring as hell and very unrewarding.
