I think it's amazing the 360 fails so much as it doesn't seem to have hindered it's sales! People obviously value quality of games over system ...

Its not that obvious really. People re-purchase their console for a number of reasons, "quality of games" isnt the only one, but it is one of them. dot dot dot

Don't say it isn't obvious then not list any reason's why ..

Do i really need to list things the xbox does well, and that makes people come back? Logic states its not "obvious" games is the sole reason why people go back. And thats really all you need.

Let me help you.

3 year warraty extension, Live community, came out first

Came out first had nothing to do with it. The PS3 being to damn expensive hindered the PS3 for years.

Had it been $300 on day one it would have dominated. Possibly even at $400.

Wii is a Panzer!

more complex /strong hardware has higher the failure rates.

that's why wii failure rate is low relative to PS3

Out of curiousity, did the GC have a higher failure rate than the PS2?

the only consoles that died on me are SNES it blew smoke and stopped working the last time i wanted to power it up
Sega Genesis, it suddenly blacked out and the screen have sound but no video PS1 the disk drive had to be repaired and PS2 , 3!!! of them died! 3!

***I used to think people were crazy when they went out and bought 2 or more xbox 360's because they kept breaking. But people have invested a lot of money on games, add-ons, controllers and a hard drive that may have several downloads on it. So essentially if anyone's 360 breaks the can spend $200 on a brand new arcade replacement and some people have no problem doing that. It's not that they value quality of games over a system. People just aren't going to completely give up on their investments even though it does suck having to keep paying more money to replace consoles.

FFS though when people buy a product its supposed to work. less than 5% i believe is the accepted failure rate. going by these numbers microsoft should be dead to rights in the console business. sony's failure rate is a bit too high too 8-12% is unacceptable too but most people dont pay attention to that because of the 360 failure headlines. nintendo is the only company i trust from day one when they release products

They should add the following category...

Number of failures after 1st year of ownership that people had to pay for:

360: 0% (prolly around 15-20% actually for people who had the DVD drive die and they didn't want to lie and say its RROD)
PS3: 100%
Wii: 100%

Number of failures after 2st year of ownership that people had to pay for:

360: 0%
PS3: 100%
Wii: 100%

what ?

Well there is some validity to that. The extended warranties have covered 360s for most of this gen.

I'm hearing a lot of PS3s breaking after the warranty. $150 for a repair is a bitch.

I am not sure but i do not think so. the PS2 had problem's like some of the PS1's with optical drive failure's

so I am pretty sure that would be a no.

because from what i gather the game cube was one of the more stable system's hardware wise out of all three last generation.

I stll have my game cube and like my PS1 AND PS2 run's just fine.

I only know 1 system that has 3 year of warranty for 2 issues which cause 70% of its failures.

But those two issues affect 40% of its buyers. That's no joke.

Agreed. Microsoft screwed up when making hardware (ATI screwed up as well)...but they made up for it the best they could.

And I am quite happy with what they did to fix their screwed up to be honest. I had a bunch of PS2s fail on me last gen and I even replaced the DVD drive myself on some.

But with the 360, I had a DVD drive fail on me in 2007, and I got it replaced for free...almost 2 years after I bought it.

I am on my 3rd and 4th 360s ( I own 2)...and I paid for 2....not counting the modded, banned, busted 360 I bought off a freind for 50 bucks which died in 3 months.

lots of countries outside the USA doesn't give you a warranty with your 360 and doesn't send you a new one if it breaks. thus if it breaks you're f#%$ed

If that's true, its a tiny fraction of 360 owners.
