Forums - Gaming - my FFXIII log almost no spoilers

By far the greatest game this year so far.

2nd greatest game this generation.

2nd best Final Fantasy after FFVII.

I Love the direction they took with FFXIII. They perfected the battle system. The story is one of the greatest I've ever seen in a video game. The world is lively and colorful. The graphics are amazing. The music is WAY better than what I was expecting (10/10 easily). The leveling system is also top notch.

FFXII had no random encounters, so that's not something new in FFXIII.

If you don't think the story in FFXIII is convulted, then you have no idea what game you played for the last 35 hours. I suggest you go back and possibly pay attention to what's going on this time around. Trying to say that they paid more attention to graphics shows me that you paid practically 0 attention to the story.

Also....complaining that the main character is a chick? BOO fucking HOO cry me a river. You're not the first on these forums to make that ridiculous complaint either.

I don't even get the complaints you are making in this thread but whatever, to each his own. The sales and reception of this game among fans speaks for itself, I don't need to defend it.

no,  xenogears was convoluted not this, in this game i was trying to save "that girl" then got cursed so i ran away, found out the king is the bad guy come back to kill him and thats it.

im not complaning about the main character been a girl im just saying square made that decition to appeal the western marked not because it had anything to do with the story.

in the op am not complaining I just wrote what happen, if am wrong, or if a lied please post what really happens in the game. my intention is to allow someone that has not gotten the game to see what the game is about before they buy.

FFVII was universally praised, this game has had as many critics as 12 did, and it wont sell much more than 12, look at the legs this game has you will see it only sold much because it says final fantasy on the cover.

I'm very sorry to say that I agree. Even though it is by far the most beautiful, FF13 is my least favorite yet by a long shot. I am 35 hours into it and I am still not gripped by the story unlike every other FF game. The battle and leveling systems are mindless, the summons are worthless except for pleasing aesthetics and I want to kill every single character myself.

I am so disappointed that it makes me sick. I keep playing it, hoping I will change my mind but so far I'm just solidifying my initial impressions.

On a positive note, the enemies are awesome looking. That's about the best I can do though. So sad.

No it isn't. Lol.

I did wonder about that, maybe I'm using them wrong but all I've found is they're useful for retrieving a bad scenario when all your teammates are down as it revives both for you.  They don't do any damage against the harder foes at all, so are only useful in that regard against lots of tiny foes which once you're powered up with the area attacks, matters little anyway as you don't need them.  Are the summons usually this hopeless or is it just a FFXIII thing.

The pleasing aesthetics are a pain in the ass too, I'm sick of seeing the cheesy CGI when I do use one.

@radha - I think the game is definately targetting people like myself as you say.

if u hit select it skips them... lol, except when u go into gestalt i think. dont remember its been a while since i played.

no not all summons are that useless. only in ff13. in old games where damage caps were 9999, summoners coulder deal 6000 with summons.. they are completely pointless in 13.

sumons in 6,7,8 are the most powerfull magical attack, in FFX they are very powerfull at the begining of the game, in FFXII they have no reason to exist, and in this one they are used to revive dead party members or take on a group of little mobs.

I think i must some kind of purist then.

no you dont go into gestalt unless you press the gestalt mode button.

Also in FF pre 13 you could call any summon at any time not like in this one that you can only call the one the leader has
