I'm very sorry to say that I agree. Even though it is by far the most beautiful, FF13 is my least favorite yet by a long shot. I am 35 hours into it and I am still not gripped by the story unlike every other FF game. The battle and leveling systems are mindless, the summons are worthless except for pleasing aesthetics and I want to kill every single character myself.

I am so disappointed that it makes me sick. I keep playing it, hoping I will change my mind but so far I'm just solidifying my initial impressions.

On a positive note, the enemies are awesome looking. That's about the best I can do though. So sad.

I did wonder about that, maybe I'm using them wrong but all I've found is they're useful for retrieving a bad scenario when all your teammates are down as it revives both for you.  They don't do any damage against the harder foes at all, so are only useful in that regard against lots of tiny foes which once you're powered up with the area attacks, matters little anyway as you don't need them.  Are the summons usually this hopeless or is it just a FFXIII thing.

The pleasing aesthetics are a pain in the ass too, I'm sick of seeing the cheesy CGI when I do use one.

@radha - I think the game is definately targetting people like myself as you say.

if u hit select it skips them... lol, except when u go into gestalt i think. dont remember its been a while since i played.

no not all summons are that useless. only in ff13. in old games where damage caps were 9999, summoners coulder deal 6000 with summons.. they are completely pointless in 13.

no you dont go into gestalt unless you press the gestalt mode button.

Also in FF pre 13 you could call any summon at any time not like in this one that you can only call the one the leader has

i know u have to hit the gestalt button. what i was saying is u hit select to skip the summon CGI, but when u go into gestalt mode you cant skip the CGI with select.
