ah, Eurovision, the pointless display of England's failure that comes around every year, we always put up talentless morons, and watch the East Euro block rig it again.

the ESC is way less rigged now than in the decades before televoting was introduced and england and ireland were the ones who profited from the faulty system before, so don't whine plz

the reason the eastern european countries did well in the last years is because they actually take it seriously .. contrary to the popular rig myth the votes from western and eastern europe have almost the same results (turkey is always higher in western europe)

@ invetedlotus )

From my experience the less well known artists from germany that participate in the ESC tend to become pretty famous locally and it isn't rare that it lasts for several years.

dont get me wrong, I think we should put some real effort into it, if were gonna do it, we may aswell do it well or it makes our nation look moronic, but there is clear bias in the voting system these days, there should be NONE, not toward my naiton, not toward yours, not toward any nation(s).

no bias ? that is very hard(impossible) to achieve ..

if we weighted it by population size Turkey would probably always win, for they afaik always get 12 points from germany, france and uk ..

now if we go by votes it would be far too easy to rig

probably the only way to make it less nation biased would be to conceal who actually participates in the ESC (no video and contestants have to sing in a randomly assigned language to make sure nobody knows where they are from) until voting is over .. would be funny and mostly unbiased, but I guess the quality of songs would drop even further and nobody would want to watch it anymore ;)

While there is some bias like there always has been generally there is none. The favourite last year happened to win. Not many former soviet countries have actually won over the last few years and in the end it is nearly always a good song that wins. We always put in trash so lose, then people cry about it.

There are more things to consider then just favouritism for neighbouring countries in this thing.

Hmm, pie.

So Eurovision really make people interested...

This particularly i find the germany entry the best, Lena song is the best, if she doesn't win is because of her style, not because of her music. This is a good program to watch, I think it's essence is more interesting than those Idol programs, since is more like an olympics of music, not a pop music factory.

Most people don't care about it.
And i watched it only once when there was big mobilisation to vote for Lordi aka the only time where good music won :D

So Waterloo and Ne parte pans soi moi wasn't good?

I liked the old (1993 onwards) rule better, since we attended only every second year.

But, atleast in the past people have had taste considering the competition, which is proved by this song having 0 points in 1986:

@invetedlotus: I think Zledejis taste in music is a little different from ABBA. :D

hmm.. Lena is very charismatic and probably has one of the cutest smiles ever, but I hope she doesn't win tbh. She was casted for the ESC and if that system is a success we probably will do that every year, which is pretty sad .. I want real musicians at the ESC and not some casting shit.

But you really prefer that people are just called to sing instead of winning an Idol-like to show to go to Eurovision? I think it's so unfair to just call stabilished stars to participate instead of giving people the chance of starting their career at the contest, and what start it is.
