My pick would still be the first Metal Gear Solid. With it being the first one I ever played it's still my choice for favorite in the series.

MGS2 is last because of the environment, and raiden, but the storyline was amazing.

MGS3 and MGS1 are equal in my opinion, MGS1 is jaw dropping good, and is the only one with LIQUID in it.. MGS3 is the beginning of metal gear, and the emotion throughout the game is just breathtaking.

MGS4 is the best of them all imo

The first one is still the best! The story has just the good amount of plot twists. The characters are very interesting especially Psycho Mantis, Ocelot and Liquid. The gameplay is great (nothing beats hiding in box, beating a guard, have him wake up and say "uh, just a box").
