Forums - Nintendo - Reggie says most Wii games can make a profit with under a million sold.

It's not what they make per copy, but the budgets in a typical situation make the profits far less.

Care to add a few numbers to understand what "typical situation" you're speaking of?

For one thing, I mean sales that have actually happened.

But since many people mean different things than typical, I mean the large budget games and that most sell around a million or two on the HD systems.

You only gave me half the numbers there: the sales, but not the budget. A game costing say $25-30M including marketing and selling 1M between 360 and PS3 will barely break even. Let's say you pay $15M to develop and market the equivalent on the Wii. that would require about 600K copies sold to achieve the same kind of money on the Wii.

Is your thesis that most mid-high production values games selling around 1M copies between the PS3 and the 360 would sell far more than 600K copies on the Wii?

I would say it would sell about 600K to 1 million. The issue I really have (which is more about third parties than this thread) isn't whether it would sell more but the belief it wouldn't sell much at all. That part is the BS.
