Forums - Sony - Amazon Awards Compensation for Sony's Removal of Other OS

sigh, here we go... people who are moaning about linux removal are being a bit short sighted, if they can't see Sony did this to protect us all from hackers, then they are truly blinded, if you like spyware, viruses and having personal information stolen way to go for you.
I think GeoHotz should pay this bill, Go Sony!!

This is a good one, Sony is our shield from teh bad guyz! This probably one of the more polite responses you'll see Damnyouall, but good on you for posting this. Bold, brave decision. Good luck to you!

I will also admit they made this move as well to try and prevent any possibility of piracy from happening in the future, but it did not matter what Sony did to be honest, once GeoHotz did his part, and distributed his solution it was inevitable to happen sooner or later.

it's the future of handheld

Err... I will admit I don't know everything about this. But, jneul, how does this protect me from hackers?

Doesn't everyone own a PC? Or are you saying I don't own a PS3?

20% hmm I also bought my PS3 on amazon.

I probably will try it too. But the problem is I dont know where I have the bill for it. But I have saved the emails. Should be enough or not ?

lol there's no way amazon would do this all on their own. either its already been decided in court that sony needs to send refunds or that amazon already got an agreement w/ sony. a retailer would never part with cash before it was official unless they weren't the ones covering the costs. what reason does amazon have to lose 20% of their income on the console for a problem sony created?

so basically the way i see it is we all get refunds or none of us will (and by all i mean including non-amazoners)

Spyware, viruses, personal information?

No offense, but do you have any clue what will happen if the PS3 is hacked?

At most you'll see HDD loading, USB loading, custom firmware and tons of homebrew. Nothing of any sort that effects any of us here when we play our games, just as how it doesn't effect me, you or anyone here when they play their DS, 360, Wii, PS2, GC, PS1, XBox, PSP, etc...

We will end up getting a feature similar to what the 360 has now with the game installations, only differences being that once it is installed you no longer need to use the disc and/or put wear and tear on your BD drive.

I would say that benefits me, not hurt me.

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

Currently playing:

Final Fantasy VI (iOS), Final Fantasy: Record Keeper (iOS) & Dragon Quest V (iOS)

Got a retro room? Post it here!

if you bought it online, you should have it in your account history.
