Billing Error Strikes Warhammer Online

Players being billed up to 22 times for one month.

By Kat Bailey, 04/08/2010

Warhammer Online players might want to keep a close eye on their bank accounts. A billing error has charged some players between 12 and 22 times, leaving a few with charges of up to $330.00.

Mythic customer service representative Andy Belford has posted information on the official site regarding the glitch, saying that players should be able to get the charges reversed in 24 - 36 hours. Electronic Arts Billing Support is promising to help anyone struggling to reverse late fees.

If you've been burned by this glitch and you're looking for an alternative to credit cards, it's possible to purchase prepaid cards. While it's not as convenient, it does ensure that you won't wake up to find your account massively overdrawn.

In the meantime, it looks like EA's customer service is going to be pretty busy over the next week or so. You can find the thread discussing the billing error here.

That really sucks.

Jesus that's pretty awful, I bet there are a lot of overdraft charges being inflicted here.

Edit: Just read the thread about it and people are really suffering from this and apparantly even after the problem was brought to light and they are trying to refund people, the billing error is continuing.  This is completely unacceptable, escpecially that it's not guaranteed they will sort out the overdraft charges caused.  Even more so that this is the second time this has happened, I saw some comments that it happened in Dec 08 as well.

Also a large amount of accounts have recently been hacked into in which Mythic will not be restoring the items lost.  As much as I like the game, I hope they lose a lot of subs for this and perhaps get a few BBB complaints on their hands.
