By Frank Cifaldi, 04/08/2010

StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty will ship with an optional Collector's Edition packaging, according to publisher Blizzard Entertainment.

The highly anticipated real-time strategy game for the PC will be available in two packages - a standard edition (priced at $59.99) and a Collector's Edition, which will retail for $99.99.

The Collector's Edition will include an art book, a copy of the original StarCraft, a behind-the-scenes DVD, a comic book, and other assorted items.

"We've been looking forward to revisiting the StarCraft universe with our players for over 10 years, and we wanted to offer an epic collector's edition that commemorated the occasion," said Blizzard CEO Mike Morhaime in a statement received by 1UP this morning.

"This special version of StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty -- easily our biggest collector's edition to date -- does just that, and we think StarCraft II gamers will really enjoy all of the exclusive contents."

What follows is a checklist for the Collector's Edition contents, as provided by Blizzard:

-- The Art of StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty, a 176-page book featuring artwork from the game

-- An exclusive 2GB USB flash drive replica of Jim Raynor's dog tag, which comes preloaded with the original StarCraft and the StarCraft: Brood War(R) expansion set

-- A behind-the-scenes DVD containing over an hour of developer interviews, cinematics with director's commentary, and more

-- The official StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty soundtrack CD, containing 14 epic tracks from the game along with exclusive bonus tracks

-- StarCraft comic book issue #0, a prequel to the comic series

-- A World of Warcraft(R) mini Thor in-game pet that can be applied to all World of Warcraft characters on a single Battle.net account

-- Exclusive Battle.net downloadable content, including special portraits for your Battle.net profile, decals to customize your units in-game, and a visually unique version of the terran Thor unit

This is very tempting, opnly because of the Brood War USB they are giving ount. Everything else is very meh.

$99? That's a little steep for me, but it's freakin' Starcraft 2, I can round it up.

What's the second game? Please don't say Brood Wars, because that barely counts for anythign since you can grab a copy from just about any bargain bin for about $5.

Also looking forward to the special editions of StarCraft II: Legacy of the Void and StarCraft II: Heart of the Swarm, for $99.99 each!

Blizzard is lucky that StarCraft II is going to be an awesome game... and that I'm such a glutton for punishment.

well looks like activision has adopted a price tag of 59.99 for their PC games. god i fucking hate them.

Well, the non collector's edition should be about $50.

Walmart still has the battle chest for $20

Some months ago I was in a Target, or some shop like that,  up in Connecticut and they didn't have the battle chest. However in their huge piles of shitty gamess like "Bass hunter," or whatever, and other such games they also had starcraft and brood wars.  So yeah sorry, your 2 games argument really fails miserably. I would also love for you to think just a little and realize just how many people already have Brood Wars, making this "extra game" absolutely worthless to theml.
