Forums - Sales - Sony Germany: X360 sales 253k, PS3 to be WW leader till christmas

Worldwide is a bit too easy a prediction, considering Sony should have no trouble with Microsoft in Europe or Japan.

Yeah it seems the xbox 360 has been a disaster in Europe except for the UK , even then i heard figures of 750k were bound about with regards to the MS console . Not good but i think there is a lot of dislike towards MS everywhere except the US . I guess people get fed up buying OS's and find they need updated a thousand times b4 they even remotely work . I wont be getting vista is no coincidence they will only support it till 2009 and yet support xp till 2014 , total rubbish .

Japan is a no brainer, but we will have to wait to see how the PS3 is performing in Europe in April/May before we make any predictions on how the PS3 will perform there.

If it stays around its current sales that would be pretty good ... On the other hand if it continues to drop the PS3 will be in serious trouble.

By flooding the market they pretty much satisfied the deman at the current price point last week, most will hold off until the price drops, or more games come in

Europe's not like Japan where there's some slim possibility of an upset. If Sony bombs in Europe, someone's going to have to take its place. Don't see a viable alternative. Even at its peak, Nintendo only managed 8.58 million units, and Microsoft's not much better off than Nintendo is currently.

The European market as a whole was pretty much ignored by Atari, Sega and Nintendo because of how small it was compared to the North American and Japaneese markets. Sony's smartest move with the Playstation was to actively market to the European market and they (basically) created the market.

This (of course) doesn't mean that Europeans would be all that more loyal to Sony than Japaneese gamers were to Nintendo ...

Most consumers have little brand loyalty, instead they go for what they believe is the best value
