Forums - General - What would get you to by an iPad?

I'm personally of mixed feelings about the iPad, there is no doubt it's a nice piece of kit, slick looking, nice screen and since I have an iPhone I'm very familiar with and like the interface. But some of the missing functionality and features just kill it for me. Here is what I would want before I would consider a purchase.

1. Forward facing camera and microphone for Skyping, because they've done this in the movies forever and I really want to.

2. SD card slot, because 64 gigs max? Come the hell on.

3. HDMI out. The macbook pro's got it, this would be super cool

4. Let me get it for ~$300 and I'll be good.

What could get you to become Apples next guinea pig?

$399 (maybe I'd stretch to $499 if they did the below)

Flash player

HDMI out

SD Card slot.

Tease.

Flash player, price cut, less glare, another price cut, multitask.

Considering I still have an old used cell phone and a 2 gig MP3 player I found on the street, nothing will get me one within the next 5 years.

That said, They're pretty cool, and I certainly think your right about the Camera, as having it would turn that thing in to a kickass videophone over skype. Flash would be nice too.

And just to clear this up for me, does the one app at a time thing include itunes? Can you seriously not even listen to music while surfing the net?

I'm a mod, come to me if there's mod'n to do.

Chrizum is the best thing to happen to the internet, Period.

Serves me right for challenging his sales predictions!

Bet with dsisister44: Red Steel 2 will sell 1 million within it's first 365 days of sales.

Free?

No, seriously, my interest is really that low.

Ok I might be convinced to buy one for more than nothing if I was absolutely sure I could sell it for a worthwhile profit.

No.. you can listen to itunes and surf the web.. and most of the times even play games while listining to itunes..

OT: I'll get one now.. just to sit back on my couch and surf this site is worth the money..

You can do that with most any mobile device that has the internet and cheaper too.

- cheaper
- proper video player with the ability to install codecs (and able to handle 720p, not sure if it does now)
- flash
- SD card

It won't replace my netbook since I need some specific software, but I'd use it to watch videos, browse and read (manga/ebooks). I don't see the second feature happening though, so likely I'll never get one.

After watching some videos the form factor and user interface make me giddy. I just want things out of it that Apple would never offer(flash or different browser). Besides minor things like rotatable camera and mic, SD card slot, HDMI and maybe a little more ram for multitasking i think the hardware is the bee''s knees..

Or just make it $300-$399 without some goofy plan and I might just learn to deal.
