Forums - Gaming - Wow, Mass Effect exceeds my expectations

It's great to read such good feedback about the game since I plan on starting it tomorrow :)  I usually prefer AD&D/fantasy settings in rpgs (Baldur's Gate 2, The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion, Neverwinter Nights 2: Mask of the Betrayer, etc) but this game and Fallout 3 might just put sci-fi at the top of my list.

It's a really good sci-fi story line...It combines great fantasy and sci-fi elements, into practical, "real-world" scenarios.

And add in the fact that Bioware allows you to have great choices in what dialogue you choose to engage in. And the conversations are definately the best, most engaging, best-animated (both facial and otherwise) of any game out there.

The game *is* revolutionary in it's approach to so much. Is it perfect? No. There are alot of things that are small and minor, but the fact is, it approaches so much new, innovative material, and nails each thing with perfection.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

this game puts halo 3 to shame. it amazing how much they can fit into a 9gb disc but bungie can only put 5 hours game play and a few maps on 1 disc

Any chance the PC version will support mods like Oblivion? That's the only way I can enjoy WRPG's I found out. :o (that and I can't play them with a gamepad)

Nobody is crazy enough to accuse me of being sane.

A PC version hasnt even been announced

I dont think bungie was trying to push the dvd to the max. They mostly worked on mult trying to balance all that out

With regard to Call of Duty 4 having an ultra short single player campaign, I guess it may well have been due to the size limitations of DVD on the XBox 360, one of various limitations multi-platform game designers will have to take into consideration-Mike B

Game trailers-Halo 3 only dissapointed the people who wanted to be dissapointed.

Bet with Harvey Birdman that Lost Odyssey will sell more then Blue dragon did.

Alot of games put Halo 3 to shame in the amount of details and there is a very simple explanation for it, Halo 3 development started a long time ago in the last generation. That's why especially now Halo 3 is not that impressive looking (see Gears, COD 4, AC, ME, Bioshock...). These games started ground up for this generation and they look it.

Thanks to Blacksaber for the sig!

Mass Effect is the first legitimate shooter/RPG right?

The System Shock games had quite a bit of RPG elements, too. I guess it all boils down to how much RPG you need in a game before calling it an RPG Shooter.
