Forums - Gaming - Wow ruined console gaming for me

i thought WoW is boring as f%@ and i was a EQ/FFXI player. its too easy and too much time consuming to do the simplest things plus the setting and community is C.R.A.P.

Atleast FFXI was challenging , Rewarding and had a good storyline and soundtrack (don't listen to me i'm a FF fanboy) , and EverQuest was also challenging and rewarding plus the community was fun to play with , very geeky but fun, WoW community is full of whiny screaming boys =/

WoW did nothing for me but the fact that console games are being watered down and casualized makes the PC even more attractive in contrast as a gaming platform (FFXIII and ME2 are prime examples of console games becoming more and more casual).

FFXIII, prime example of more casual games?

How so?

nah

I love to play on my PC and on my consoles

I do not play any MMO though

It shows that games in all genres, even the ones that used to have depth before are becoming more and more simply to cater to a bigger audience or perhaps even a different audience, possibly at the cost of losing old fans. Shooters have lost all challenge and effort and are all adopting the same silly systems, RPG's are turning into action games and even RTS games are being watered down to transparency through games such C&C 4.

For me, this is not a good thing and I think console gaming has hurt not only PC gaming because of this but gaming in general in the sense that I know. Sucks for me, great for those who enjoy it. I don't mind casual games at all but I do mind dumbing down and removing depth from franchises and series that used to hold some meaning and content before. I wait in anticipation for a Deus Ex 3 with regenerating health and near infinite ammo...

lol give your average console user something like neverwinter nights , wait a sec that wont even work .. never mind lol

NWN is pretty easy to pick up, especially the second one which was dumbed down.

Now, Baldur's Gate, Icewind Dale or Planescape:Torment, that's a challenge

And its getting worse, in five to ten years we'll be playing "RPG's" that play like God of War and shooters will have perpetual godmode and infinite ammo on as default settings.

Don't sweat it. You still have Demon's Souls, at least it brought a glimmer of hope to console RPGs
