Nope, I can't see how any game on PC can ruin the console experience, vice-versa too.

I've been gaming on both since I can remember, and will always do so. Oh and I'm not touching WoW ever gain. The 10-hours trial I played was more than enough, those were some of the most boring 10 hours in videogames, i've ever had >_<

So true. I don't particularly like MMOs, but WoW has to be the most boring game ever.

It's the only game I would describe as harmful. It should be banned instead of Gears of War, Crackdown, Dead Rising or Manhunt...

I'm not particulary fond of MMOs as well, even though I've played some free ones, but not for long sessions, as I get bored too soon. It's just a rinse and repeat mechanism over and over again, which strips RPGs of one of the basic pieces of the "soul" of RPGs: Story.

But WoW took it to a whole new level. Never before had I found a game in which I spent 10 hours literally doing the same thing over and over again. I even tried experiencing different classes and races to see if one of them had a different start, but each one was identical. You end stuck in area, hunting for X amount of things, to allow you to train some skills and gain some gold, then you do it all over again.

How someone can get suckered into it so much, that sometimes it destroys people's lives, it's trully beyond me. I agree that sometimes it becomes harmful, and there are even detox clinics for former WoW addicts. That's how bad it has come to.

Have you level capped and started endgame raiding/pvp? Because thats when WoW sucks you in...

BTW, WoW has a spectacular story...it  just wasn't narrated with cutscenes and such like a Final Fantasy, so people had to actually read.

Blizz took a stept toward cutscenes now tho...not that great but its a start.

Yea, it's hard to like WoW after the 10 day trial. Imo the game doesn't start till endgame. I haven't tryed the parental timers but I know I wouldn't abide by them. When I used to arena it would always be like "1 more game to raise our ranking, then if we lost ok we need 2 more games to get our ranking back!" It never ended then heroic dailys would reset and I'd be lfm heroic occulus lol. I used to be in a end game raiding guild that was too hardcore as well. I just feel like when I'm not playing people are getting in raids getting better gear better pvp ranking etc so I never want to stop playing. On Sundays we used to start at 2 pm and end raiding at 12 am. It's really virtual crack.

The story is great too, since I played and beat all the WC RTS the story was relevant. I was excited to see Maiev, pissed to kill Illidan and KJ. It's like the RTS personalized for your character.

guild wars was amazing and so was eve online i loved that one to , tell you the truth mmos are just better games overall

WoW had a recapped story which derived massively from Warcraft 2 and Warcraft 3, and it was heavily butchered to fit the the MMO mold. When I heard what they had done to Kel'Thuzad and Illidan Stormrage, I didn't know whether to cringe or to Lol xD.

Nope, I haven't and won't ever level cap, as I see no reason nor have the will for that. PVP was never to my liking in RPGs, even back on Diablo 2 days. But unlike WoW, Diablo 2 actually was a good game when played in a MMO scenario and i've probably put more than half a dozen thousand hours on Diablo 2 back in the days.

Halo ruined console gaming for me. After that genres started being shoehorned into a control scheme which obviously sucks for said genres. There are still some games which are hella fun, but not many.

You ruined PC gaming for me.  Every time I see one of your posts I get this incredible urge to utterly trash my computer and burn all my PC games.

Can I ask why you think Diablo 2 isn't boring but WoW is? I've had a few 99's on hardcore D2:LOD and honestly Baal runs for 10 hours a day isn't that fun even with 8 people you know. Run pug Baals and TPPK wipes out your character you spent months on. Then you have attack speed and magic casting hacks for PvP so it turns into hack fest or running back into town. Even without the expansion once you reach hell all you can do is MF or do Diablo runs wich are fun but it's the same thing over and over.

Have you done über runs? have you done the Pandaemonium event? Have you tried to do Zod runes or +2 skill charms runs?

You only have hacks if you're playing a non-ladder server, which is your fault alone. I haven't seen any hack on ladder for the past couple of years except for the rare maphack here and there.

But, as I said, what sets Diablo 2 apart from WoW it's the story. Diablo 2 actually expanded on the story from it's predecessor. Not only expanded it, it created an entire lore from the tidbits that Diablo 1 had.

WoW did the contrary. It reduced to bits the lore that Warcraft 2 and Warcraft 3 created. At least they have mantained the ominous presence of Arthas on WOTLK, as it should be.

I was wondering if anyone else felt this way. Ever since I started playing PC games back in Diablo/WC3 days console gaming took a step back in my eyes but I still played new games that came out for it until I beat them then went back to Diablo2. Since WoW came out my Ps2 gathered dust until release of God of War 2 and FFXII but I didn't even finish those 2 games before playing WoW again!

I used to play WoW every day 4-5 hours a day sometimes more then had to quit because of work/college and a social life. I understand how people are addicted to WoW because I get like cravings to play it again lol, I know I can't though because I would get sucked back into raiding/arenas and never stop.

Ever since I quit wow though it seems like most console games are lackluster to me, they don't captivate me the same anymore and the worst part is most of them end. I'm not a fan of FPS so their online play doesnt entice me but games like God of war 3 after I beat them I don't want to replay them and thats it. It just seems like WoW ruined console gaming for me.

I also find myself waiting for a good console mmo or dungeon crawler type game that will make me feel like I'm playing WoW again. Oblivion sucked to me. single player mmo bleh and most other games don't fit the bill. I guess I'm gona try FF14 or dcuniverse when it comes out.

I actually stopped playing Wow after 3 years of hardcore raiding to have more time to spend on my PS3.

PS3-Xbox360 gap : 1.5 millions and going up in PS3 favor !

PS3-Wii gap : 20 millions and going down !

@lestatdark

wow isnt trying to be warcraft 4 , wow is a MMO , it has more content than any other game to date.

diablo 2 was great but in my eyes it doesnt even come close to the amount of dedication and goal creating wow has.

wow is the best game ever made and whats funny is alot of sites have come to terms about what a monster of a game it is , not just because of the massive online community but because you cant find that amount of stellar content in any other game ever , but sadly you will never know just how great that game is cause you never made it to cap and you never got to play with end game guild raids or end game pvp , you never played through those absolutely amazing boss battles or 5 man parties in regular end game instances or the amount of reward you feel when you kill illidan and he drops his epic blades LOL good times very good times.

oh well
