Forums - Gaming - What happened to Strategy RPGs?

I used to love the Shining Force games for Sega Genesis and Saturn. I played them addictively, but have not come across anything similiar to them in recent years. I know their is a Shining Force DS game, but it's not even an English title is it?

Have I missed something? Are there any recent games that would be recommended for someone who loved the Shing Force games?

I'm sure someone else will say this first but Shining Force Feather is on the DS but it's a Japan exclusive.

Pixel Art can be fun.

there are plenty of SRPGs for DS and PSP. I would even say that there's more than enough, because there is a lot of spin-offs too.

DS: FF Tactics Advance 2, Luminous Arc 1 & 2, Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon, Disgaea, Rondo of Swords, etc.

PSP: Jeanne D'Arc, Disgaeas, FF Tactics: War of the Lions (remake of FFT), Wild Arms XF , etc.

the words above were backed by NUCLEAR WEAPONS!

Seems unbielivable nobody hasn't mentioned the Fire emblem series at this stage. Get yourself a GBA for the two FE on this platform, then there's one on the GC and the last one on the Wii.

Oh btw, I am currently playing Infinite Space on DS and it's a blast, I really don't know why nobody speaks about this RPG

Jeanne D' Arc is very good (PSP). I also liked FFT remake and the Disgaeas series on the PSP as well.

I would go for Front Mission, which was ported to the DS a couple of years ago. It's an old-school mech SRPG with a story centered on politics.

So basically what I am gathering here is that if I want to play a strategy RPG I need to buy a handheld.

Sux that they don't make them for any of the consoles =(

Valkyria Chronicles? Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn?

There is a PSN release of Vandal Hearts.

The only console SRPGs I know of this gen are Fire Emblem:Radiant Dawn for Wii and Disgaea 3 for PS3.
