So any game that automaticly reaches 90 is considered a "AAA" game. That just seems like a dumb marketing ploy that companies pulled off to generate hype. In turn fanboys started calling any game over 90 a AAA game because it makes that acomplishment seem like it's that more noteworthy.

Whatever happened to just "A" games.... or even "AA"...

Did someone just go from the double dog dare to a triple dog dare to go right for the throat?

Not once did I get a big fat AAA on the top of my papers for receiving a score of 90, let alone 100. (I have reiceived a AA though for getting 112 percent for doing extra credit problems) I beleive the triple A title should be reserved for only those that get 98-100 otherwise it's just falling under the stupid marketing ploy idea in my mind. An AA should be added in there as well...95-97....anything from 90 - 94 should just be an A rated game.

Haha i know this thread isn't going to stop people from actually changing what they call a Triple A game but....just some food for thought I guess.

I disagree with one exception - GTA IV. Not only was that one of the most hyped games ever, I have yet to meet someone who I know as a friend IRL or in the general forums that feel GTA IV deserved It's 97% ranking. In general when almost all reviewers favor a game you know It's damn good.

It's just that simple.

I actually do not get in to the whole AAA thing. I prefer a simple Good, Bad, or Ok.

a game that scores a 100 on meta would be perfect

Agreed. Games like Left 4 Dead and Uncharted are almost universally loved, and should not be discounted for falling 1 or 2 percent short.

AAA= 90+

AA = 85+

A= 80+

the rest are a piece of shit in gamer's heads!

AAA really means a game the studio/publisher puts a ton of money and marketing into. It has nothing to do with the critics review. A lot of games that have that much attention do score the 90's or higher so are AAA. It baffles me that there is such a widespread misconception though. There are plenty of AAA games that have scored below 90.

AAA 10+ million in sales
AA 5-10 million
A 1-5 million in sales

Would also make it a lot harder to call something AAA since 90s are given out like diseases at a whorehouse anymore. I remember when 70-80 score was buy if you liked the genre, 80-89 was "really, really awesome for its genre" and 90+ was that rare and magical game that transcended genre and you'd see its influence for years to come.

this.

I wouldn't say under 80 is  shit though. IMO under 60 is shit, 60-70 is playable, 70-80 is a good game and then over 80 its really good.

....I have never heard a game in the 80's called an A game.....

Isn't that just a D - A system...

D is playable, C is good, B is pretty fun, and A is damn good....

The only thing is your changing B with AA simply cause you don't like hearing that it's not an "A" qaulity game....Double A sounds much less harsh.
