Its a dickhead move saying *anything* about another platform in a negative way when you're a platform holder. Its ok to say *Bla Bla Bla Wank Wank Xbox 360* But its never ok to talk about the competition like that, especially when the competition hes dissing hasn't exactly said nasty things about the Xbox 360 or Microsoft. Whilst its probably true given the information we've recieved from Pachter about the Wii games average sale prices, its not good enough and I expect more from Microsoft.
However in saying that, its pretty interesting how much support is implied. 70% is quite a large chunk of the industry but as far as we all know it could just mean that they've sent development kits to them and nothing may ever come of them.

Most of these potshots are aimed at investors and the likes, so by attacking nintendo's weakness and bigging their's up, 2 birds with one stone. I don't think it's anything malicious or anything.

Its still dirty and completely not required. He could have made his point without mentioning Nintendo.

He's basically saying the same thing we've heard many times from third parties. EA, Activision, Ubisoft, and others simply aren't seeing the sales they should be seeing on the Wii considering its marketshare.

At the end of the day it's better for third parties to have Microsoft dominant over both Nintendo and Sony since it takes a smaller share of total game sales when compared to the other two. Nintendo sees third parties as direct competitors while Sony has made it obvious they're working on building first parties at the expense of third parties (reduction in moneyhats, etc).

Uh, sony's strategy involves converting winning 3rd party titles to first party ones.  If they can buy, say a large portion of a studio's offerings then they know that it will be a lot easier to convert the studio to being a sony exclusive one.  They also wont need to moneyhat because they have the demand from consumers now equalling or almost equalling the software sales of the 360, where only a year ago, it was probably only 65% of the 360's WW software sales.

The 70% number has dropped a bit from the first figures given, which said that about 90% of the publishers would support natal.  Also, this if 70% of developers do not support the 360, then it is evident that MS is money hatting significantly.

hmmm.... last time I checked, MS pretty much shut down almost all their first party studios by now, they have published their IPs by 3rd party studios but that's about it, if you add in Nintendo first party, then the 360 pretty much gets destroyed, and that's with the supposed "blockbuster"(what a dumb way to describe it sigh,) titles all over the 360 as well. I'm also pretty sure publishers this gen have lost more money to HD titles than Wii ones since they don't pour resources in it to start with.

Of course Microsoft is money hatting significantly. Sony is as well, and Nintendo is just money bathing.

Seriously though I would not be surprised if the budget for development and marketing support is not well over $250M and I wouldn't be surprised if there were over 100 staff available to offer support to developers. As for the difference, I suspect its the difference between the numbers showing an interest and the numbers actually following through with support, thats 20% attrition at this point.

I don't really understand why some people are so excited for Natal as 360 owners, if you wanted motion controls, you'd have a Wii already, despite the input, motion control is still motion control, if you wanted to sit on the sofa not having to move before, you'd still want to sit on it and hold a gamepad. Why not have a Wii already?

Greenberg seems to be talking a lot of PR lately. I wonder why.
