I agree sorta.

The graph says that 360 fans buy as almost the same amount of games as Wii fans do, and the Wii has double the sales the 360 does.

Does this mean that most Wii owners put the Wii away after a few weeks after use? I just asking questions.

The Wii has somehow managed to sell more software without dependence on any of the blockbuster franchises save for...1 (Monster Hunter 3)

The 360 literally has every big series out there.

Even so the 360 sells just about the same amount of software as the Wii. Without the bundled Wii spots and Mario games do you think the Wii would even be near the 360? I highly doubt it.

The Wii depends on Mario games or a exercise related games.

If we look at the top 10 games sold this week, the Wii has Wii sports at number 4, but only because it was bundled since day 1.

Number 6 is a Mario game.

Number 10 is a exercise  game.

Just Dance has sold over 2 million copies, and it sold 100,000 this week. The game has a 49 ranked on metacritic. Clearly a bad game but manages to sell.

That isn't the point Garnett. I could also say without Halo 3 and Gears of War the 360 would not even be near the PS3 - apples and oranges.

Look at the Wii in Japan. It hasn't received anything in months besides rereleases of Wii games that already came out last year or in 2008 (even 2007 with DBZ:BT3!). Check the 360 charts and you will see several more releases for it. Ask trestres, when was the last time anyone's seen a Wii game on the Japanese pre-order charts?

As for Just Dance, it does what it needed to do well....and it was advertised for three months straight at budget price. I don't want to do a list war thing, but the 360 has GTA, Call of Duty, Assassins Creed, Tekken, Street Fighter, RE5, blah blah blah; all large-scale games  that  boost sales numbers.

The Wii? LOL

Leatherhat on July 6th, 2012 3pm. Vita sales:"3 mil for COD 2 mil for AC. Maybe more. "  thehusbo on July 6th, 2012 5pm. Vita sales:"5 mil for COD 2.2 mil for AC."

He's basically saying the same thing we've heard many times from third parties. EA, Activision, Ubisoft, and others simply aren't seeing the sales they should be seeing on the Wii considering its marketshare.

At the end of the day it's better for third parties to have Microsoft dominant over both Nintendo and Sony since it takes a smaller share of total game sales when compared to the other two. Nintendo sees third parties as direct competitors while Sony has made it obvious they're working on building first parties at the expense of third parties (reduction in moneyhats, etc).

That's jsut not true. Nintendo representatives have been encouraging third parties to support the Wii with their best stuff since the generation started. They're still doing it now, even after the point of no return - though I think at this point the rhetoric is for the sake of building an established base of third party game-buyers on the Wii's successor.

I can't wait to see Just Dance "Natal edition" selling millions and millions of copies.

lol Edge + Microsoft, public bitching just to piss people off.

Third-party publishers can succeed on the Wii. It's just a different market

Wii third-party games that made the Top 50 software (sales) of 2010 thus far

Lets Dance
Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games
EA Sports Active
CoD: MW: Reflex
Cabela's Big Game Hunter 2010
The Biggest Loser
Gold's Gym: Cardio Workout

The only 'core' game from the list is MW: Reflex.

And there's no guarantee that Nintendo's third-party 'core' titles from 2010 would necessarily hit it big on the Ps360. No More Heroes = niche. Tatsunoko vs. Capcom = no where near the potential for sales like SF4. It's more a fighting game geek's game. Rather than a mainstream fighting game. Red Steel, who knows. Release a port to the Playstation Move and see for yourself. And besides Red Steel wasn't release that long ago. There is plenty of opportunity for sales to pick up. Wii games aren't very front-loaded.

Thanks for helping me prove my point.  Imagine what that chart would look like if the 360 was the one with an installed base of 69.56 million and the Wii had 39.06 million.

"What ifs" are pointless though:

What if the PS3 started the gen @ $299? Would the 360 have as much 3rd party support as it currently does?

What if the Wii hadn't taken off in the first place? Would it be in the same position it is currently in?

What if the 360 had been the only console on the market for longer than a year? Would the PS3 and Wii have had even stronger launch line-ups to combat with?

Bottomline is, he spouts this stuff like the Wii is doing poorly. It may not have the same 3rd Party strength as the 360, but it's certainly not doing as bad as he's implying.

I agree sorta.

Total Wii software sold: 465,811,008

Total XBOX360 software sold: 340,302,563

Even whiteout Wii Sports, the Wii still has sold more software sold, despite the XBOX's one year head-start. And why don't we start arbitrarily removing games from the XBOX sales? Like Halo, Modern Warfare, etc.

Maybe reviewers no longer represent the view of the majority, perhaps they never did. Maybe Just Dance was advertised well enough, or that many people found it a fun game, the grand majority of customer reviews on Amazon are very positive.

Its a dickhead move saying *anything* about another platform in a negative way when you're a platform holder. Its ok to say *Bla Bla Bla Wank Wank Xbox 360* But its never ok to talk about the competition like that, especially when the competition hes dissing hasn't exactly said nasty things about the Xbox 360 or Microsoft. Whilst its probably true given the information we've recieved from Pachter about the Wii games average sale prices, its not good enough and I expect more from Microsoft.
However in saying that, its pretty interesting how much support is implied. 70% is quite a large chunk of the industry but as far as we all know it could just mean that they've sent development kits to them and nothing may ever come of them.

Tease.

Game reviewers are out of touch with the average gamer. They make such a big deal out of these big-budget blockbuster games. And many of these big-budget hyped-up blockbuster games are not exactly all that fun to play. Game reviewers generally represent a narrow segment of self-proclaimed 'hardcore gamers'.

1. Yes but 360 sells the same with 3rd party games as Wii does. ModernWarfare 2 on 360 sold like 10 million and thats on 3 platforms. You think Wii sports resort would of sold 14 million on the Wii alone with 2 other platforms? I dont think so.

2. Japan hates/dislikes/Other reasons/ the 360.

3. Yes all those games you mentioned are on the PS3 and most 360 exclusives are on PC as well. So i they were ONLY on 360 then the 360 would of passed the Wii in software sales. While Wii games are generally fully exclusive to the Wii.

Most of these potshots are aimed at investors and the likes, so by attacking nintendo's weakness and bigging their's up, 2 birds with one stone. I don't think it's anything malicious or anything.
