they are inherently similar but i prefer the PSN trophies system. Platinum trophy is a great feature that separates the hardcores from the casuals (e.g. one look will tell me someone's a huge fan of MotorstormPR if he holds a platinum for it) and the leveling system may be gimmicky (just like trophies/achievements to some) but it did influenced me to buy some games especially when i'm stuck at 99% :p

Yes, but one particular group of supporters significantly outnumbers everybody else on this forum.

I think that both of them are good, I just get trophies/achievements in conformity with the games that I want to play, and don't bother much with them if it's a game that isn't capturing me right from the start.

trophy system is much "better" imo. I like the leveling system. Also the achievement pop-up is one of the most ugly designed cluster of pixels ever created. That design is just horrible. Actually it's so badly made that we start to laugh every time it pops up.

I don't mind either, but I'm the type of gamer who doesn't really bother about level ups, beacuse I have better things to do than playing games all the time.
Both achievements and trophies allows the consumer to spend more time with the game, grow with it, and eventually love the game.

Trophies.....just the fact that you have levels is interesting, and not only that, Platinum trophies. When you look at someones trophy card you can see wither or not the guy just plays tons of games or wither he can accomplish the really hard goals or took the time to do it.

Both are equally worthless in my eyes. I find it annoying that I can't even choose not to receive them - it happens automatically for all supported games.
