Forums - Sony - Sony: PS3 to move onto the new 3D aisle in stores, and enters media asile

This is a good idea. Sony needs 3D because it's going to add more oomph and phizzazz to its Blu-ray initiative. 3D will add more content, and Blu-ray will be the best media to put that forward so this will aid Blu-ray as well.

Sony is also working this from other angles besides movie discs, they are also offering cameras for movie shoots that have 3d capability, and are probably going to offer software for 3d movie production as well to get yet another side of things.

So, 3d is ultimately going to be a double or triple, probably not a home run but still a darn good play imho.

Sony also sells movie projectors, for folks going to the local big screen. I'm sure that they will be offering 3d projectors as part of the conversion to digital, which will drive more sales of movies, etc.

I'm interested to see how 3D is accepted by the public. Although I probably won't get in on it until at least 2nd generation and hopefully by then they'll have an industry standard for the glasses.

ever since AVATAR 3d has been the biggest thing since color television

3D TV will be huge. IMAX in London is busy all the time. If you want to see Avatar or Alice in Wonderland you have to book your tickest weeks or sometimes months in advance.

What was that people used to have in signatures: PS3 is the future, Now BELIEVE....lol

haha,,,long time ago i created thread with help of CGI (When PS3 was selling bad)and told people that PS3 is future proof and you have to believe it.so people put it in their sig,,,,like 300 members or so did

http://www.vgchartz.com/forum/thread.php?id=65874

I'll be the 301st one once I find out how to do it.

it it's easy ,,,go to "my quick links" then go to edit profile,,,then scroll down to the signiture part and put in whatever you like ;)

No ones said if you'll need a 3D TV for 3D on PS3 or if there will be an option to have polarised 3D on normal HD TVs, does anyone know?

I think you need a 3d tv before you can use 3d on your Ps3. Theres already a game on PSN that is in full 3d but it doesn't say if you need a 3d tv for it.

OT: Sony obviously didn't plan this but it's very smart a couple years away when 3d is more mainstream and people will look at all the 3d consoles and blu ray players and determine Ps3 is a good price to get all that.

Won't there be an option to do polarised 3D like batman and the current 3D dvds and blu-rays? I'm not a massive fan of the current 3D as it makes you jump a lot and it hurts your eyes after a bit, so I definately won't be going out of my way to buy a 3D TV, I'd rather invest the money in a bigger HD TV!

If it means a new TV I can't see it being a big plus for many people apart from the super rich.

a 3D tv= the best HD TV you can get, not only is it 240HZ, but it's resolution is the highest you can get 1080p maybe higher by the end of the year?

They are absolutely the BEST HD TV's you can buy, which is why they are 3D capable, 3d tv's are not solely for 3d.

Sony should thank that James Cameron for making this 3D craze so mainstream.

don't forget that the Avatar 3D was made possbile by Sony 3D camers(it was shot by Sony cameras)

Modified Sony cameras... And I said that they should thank Cameron for making 3D so mainstream, since before Avatar no one really gave a shit about 3D.

This isn't going to expand out of the niche market until people can watch 3D without glasses and without headaches. Once people realise how much 3D costs for so little content with the extra benefit of having to wear dinky active glasses they'll probably pass.

However saying that, if anyone here really cared about 3D they would be thinking about a $350 Nvidia graphics card called the GTX 470 and considering picking up some glasses and a monitor.

Tease.

GO PS3 3D+MOVE,

onto the next console gen already.

My friend plays GOW3 on a shitty tv with AV line, you know what?it's like playing a PS2 game!!!

wow surprised no jokes about PS3 no longer being a video game console and shouldn't be counted in the console wars haha. I guess I should be happy because it would be a silly argument, but I've heard that silly argument before when it came to another instance.

I mean I guess this is a decent move to help get it to sell along with these 3Dtvs, but Sony just needs to make sure they aren't limiting themselves here. PS3 is bought as a video game system with the software it sales. 3D is definitely something they are pushing, but just keep letting the mainstream know you are about the video games they can play on their TVs now.
