Forums - Sony - Sony: PS3 to move onto the new 3D aisle in stores, and enters media asile

Sony should thank that James Cameron for making this 3D craze so mainstream.

Who doesn't think this gen will last 10 years?

Who thinks sony STILL wont recoop Ps3 loses?

I myself believe they planned this all along. Sony won the HD wars and is now using the same old wooden horse to sneek 3d in the living room now. They might not recoop Ps3 loses but I think it will be closer than most would have figured in '07 and '08. I mean Ps3 is now profitable, blu-rays are starting to pick up a good chunk of the market, and Sony 3d tvs are about to launch which the Ps3 will help promote.

Yeah 3D is a way bigger step up than HD

That is what the consumer thinks anyway from what I've seen

Dare I say it....it may be as big as a black & white to colour

if SONY can market and position PS3 properly it will pay off!!

But it would have been cooler if PS4 was positioned as the first 3D Home Gaming Console.....since SONY liked to introduce a new format ever new gen.

All hail the KING, Andrespetmonkey

So for this 3D you'll need a 3D TV?

Won't there be an option to do polarised 3D like batman and the current 3D dvds and blu-rays? I'm not a massive fan of the current 3D as it makes you jump a lot and it hurts your eyes after a bit, so I definately won't be going out of my way to buy a 3D TV, I'd rather invest the money in a bigger HD TV!

If it means a new TV I can't see it being a big plus for many people apart from the super rich.

3D is cool, but I can't in good conscience support motion controls. Sony say hardcore gamers don't want to use them because they're not accurate enough... I don't belive that's the case.

I always thought the prime trait of a good input device was to allow as little input as possible to control accurately as much as possible on screen. Which is what controllers/mouse input already provides. I can see people buying motion controls, but I never see them being taken up by 'hardcore' gamers as Sony state the partial intention is...

I'm interested to see how 3D is accepted by the public. Although I probably won't get in on it until at least 2nd generation and hopefully by then they'll have an industry standard for the glasses.

ever since AVATAR 3d has been the biggest thing since color television

3D TV will be huge. IMAX in London is busy all the time. If you want to see Avatar or Alice in Wonderland you have to book your tickest weeks or sometimes months in advance.

What was that people used to have in signatures: PS3 is the future, Now BELIEVE....lol
