The graphs for "Quarterly Sales Mean" on a weekly basis seem to be wrong for the last quarter. I assume total should be equal to the sum of the 3 regions, but it isn't at the moment.

They were off on the total but I made the correction.

The reason for this was that in my data listings I had the formulas entered for the rest of the quarter which resulted in "0"s (because there was no data yet).  So when it was working out the mean for the last quarter it was factoring in the 0's for the coming weeks which lowered the total mean.

It should be fixed now.

Excellent work sqrl. One thing that would be nice to see is the volume frequency pies on one page just like the market shares. That way you can more easily compare them.

I think the lack of analysis is actually a good thing, at least at first. This chart is "just the facts, man." Maybe once all the figures are in it can be updated and posted in the news section, then updated each quarter.

 Here you go =)

I made some changes to the final section. I added a frequency comparison pie chart, and split up the market share image so that it can be seen more easily.

Great work Sqrl!!

Wow, it's really striking to see 360/PS3 are mainly in the 1-100k range and Wii has never sold below 100k and is mainly 200-300k range.

This would interesting to revisit after the holidays.

The only negative part of the Wii data is the downward trend in Japan. It's only been one year, though, so it's yet to be seen whether this trend is going to be an annual thing or whether interest in (or possibly supply of) the Wii really is decreasing over there. You would think the main cause of the slowing down would be the lack of tons of quality software, but SMG hasn't done too much to increase sales so that is kind of scary. Maybe Japan is just becoming ultra super casual and Wii Fit is going to do what SMG has yet to do.

Volume frequency is the one that interested me most.

Very nice work Sqrl. Very nice work indeed.

Just some info for you guys who are a little confused on the median. The reason it is included is because I feel that it is a much better indicator than a mean. The reason is that statistical outliers are largely ignored.

The basic idea is that if you have this data:

20<----3
40<----2
50<----1
60<---- Median
70<----1
90<----2
3000<----3

The mean of this data is (20+40+50+60+70+90+3000)/7 = 475.71

The median of this data is located at the center of the sorted list, or in this case 60. I added the arrows next to the data to show that there were an equal number of entries above and below the median.

Anyways, the idea is that with console sales there are occasionally weeks that are far and away above normal sales and far and away below normal sales and a median quickly and simply ignored both and gives a good picture of what the typical week was like.

Does anyone have any ideas/requests for other ways to compare the data? I am always looking for ways to improve my spreadsheets, so if anyone has some ideas for another way to look at this let me know please.

Similar downturns occured for PS2 around this time of year, by the time Wii Fit comes I expect it to Spike

Wii didn't even get to 70 Million)

in the global market share comparison the wii60 is pacman.. poor power pellet ps3
