Third installment flying off store shelves.

During this morning's MI6 conference, an annual gathering of videogame marketing executives, Sony's VP Of Marketing Peter Dille stated God of War III had sold 1 million units in "just a couple days" after the game launched. 

Dille did not specify whether those were North America sales or worldwide. God of War III launched first in North America on March 16 followed by Europe and Australia on March 18 and 19. 

This should make for an impressive first-month sales debut once official numbers begin to hit. NPD, which tracks U.S. videogame retail sales, will release its March results next Thursday, April 8. Other titles released in March, such as Final Fantasy XIII, are also expected to lead console software sales

doubt it sold 1 million in the first few days in US only.. how many days of sales were accounted into GOW3's 1.1m anyway?

Just to clear this up. Whenever a Sony exec says 'sold' they mean sold to retailers, not sold to consumers

The game dethroned Final Fantasy XIII (PS3) from the first spot on Amazon while being PRE-ORDERED just one day after FFXIII released. It dethroned FFXIII on the gamestop list the day it released and it's been there since. Currently it shifts between 3rd and 4th place (taking account software only) in Amazon.

I don't know if that's enough indicative of strong sales, but I bet this site has it quite undertracked for USA.

Under normal circumstances, yes. But in this case it's obviously sell-through. The game has shipped a LOT more than 1 million. It's probably around 2 million just in America alone. Canadian first shipment was 225k and USA is usually 9 to 10 times larger than them.
