Maybe because the Wii owners in Europe are, besides the Nintendo-fans, mostly kids, where in NA and Japan the ownerbase is more diverse.

I don't know anyone that still or regulary plays on his Wii.

Anecdotal evidence time... I post on several forums full of European gamers, specifically the UK. I've seen enough to pick up a general attitude. Lets just say it isn't very pro-Nintendo right now.

The crazy thing is that half the time the viewpoints put forward are totally hypocritical. There's this one guy who absolutely despises Mario because it's a 'cartoony platformer', but then goes on to list Ratchet & Clank as his favourite gaming series.... This is the kind of nonsense I read every day, and it's that attitude that Nintendo are up against here.

One single simple reason: PIRACY.
It's insane how many people have modded/hacked Wii's here in Europe, including a very large group of so-called 'casuals'. Same with the DS. Sad, but true. A lot of people seem to underestimate this, especially people who don't pirate, but the number of people that do pirate is really absurdly high in Europe.

Take a look at this, it's software sales on Nintendo platforms by region:

As you may see Wii is the first Nintendo home console that selling software on par with the Americas. Naturally, you'd expect that buying habbits of europeans who were kinda of unaware about Nintendo brand all this time would differ from buying habbits of americans. I guess, they're largery buying what would your typical expanded audience consumer buy.

just cause I know 30 games isn't really all that hard to acheive on any system.

there ya go, 34 games. I even left a bunch of games out (like Wii Fit Plus, or LEGO Rock Band, or DJ Hero, or Band Hero, Sonic & Mario). Maybe you need to expand your interest in gaming as there is a lot of stuff out there. Not that I'd personally buy every single one of these, but all of them are worth buying if you are interested in them. I was only personally interested in 21 of them (probably 3 more if you include fitness), but I don't have the money for all those plus the PS3 and DS games I've bought. I try to only buy 12 games a year (or essentially $600/year on games) so you can see why I passed on a lot of them.

You should get informed of the situation here in other regions before you knock us, a lot of stores here in the UK stock up heavily on shovelware and as a result the only place to find most of the best Wii games is on online, outside Nintendo I think I can only count two or so games that I've seen ads for and these ads were on pretty obscure channels as I was flicking through. RS2 has the fortune of being from a big publisher so stores will stock it but most people won't know it's out until they actually walk into the store on their next visit as the are no ads playing for it at least not many compared to the constant Bad Company ads and so on playing, games like Muramasa, Silent Hill, TVC and such can't even be found in 80% of stores at all you just have to go online for them.

If you want to sell in Europe you have to hype through the roof as many people here are quite open to games but not on forums and such like us.

Not such a bad year for me. I wouldn't go as far as 30, but it wasn't as bad as you say.

Well to be honest, I think the wii is crap... please don`t be offended by that, but this is just my opinion.
I own myself a WII with 10 games (Mario, Resident evil, Silent Hill.....aso.)
Nintendo is doing very little in holding his hardcore and midcore. gamer and imo. they don`t deserve the success they having with the WII.
The other 2 companys really kicked themself for the gamer, and I`m very proud to have all 3 systems. The thing is that i only play 360 and PS3 with my friends and family, even my girlfriends are more into 360 or Ps3 then into WII.
I own all Nintendo consels NES, SuperNES. Nintendo64, Gamecube and a WII, just to show I am not a hater, I am simply dissapointed. thanks for reading... :)
