Forums - Microsoft - Greenberg: PS3 Browser 'An Absolute Nightmare', No Future 360 Web Surfing

OK, what i'm getting from this thread is:

- PS3 owners who use the browser, like it.

- PS3 users that don't use the browser, don't like it.

- Xbox owners don't like it and are pleased they can't browse the net on their TV using their 360.

Nothing is going to change the results of this argument by continuing it.

Sure I use it, if I want user created Themes, I'd just use the PS3 browser and look for them, but omg what a piece of shit everytime I boot it up, and this is me having a mouse and keyboard on the PS3 too, it's plain bad, and it should be, it's a console!

I don't think it's particularly easy to use, but i don't find it bad. I use a bluetooth keyboard with a touchpad and i find it alright for it's purpose. I have all my usual websites bookmarked, which is super fast to use, especially for checking the news, looking at twitter, watching Youtube, checking vgchartz forum or streamed videos.

of course, if i have anything more complicated to do on the net i use a computer

its about finding the right tool for the task. for most things i want to sit on my sofa for and look at through my TV, the PS browser works fine, especially since my PS3 is on whenever i'm in the house.

so how do you disable that "do you want to run this plug-in?" msg anyways then?

I don't see why they shouldn't include Internet Explorer at least on the 360. I have zero use for a browser for my console because I can always just go get my laptop if I want to consult a FAQ when I'm stuck in a game or something. I find that more convenient that I can look at a guide on my laptop and play at the same time. And if I need a backup computer, I have my old desktop. But it doesn't hurt to have a browser available for the 360 right?

Laptops are a wonderfully useful tool. Who needs a console as a media entertainment center when you can just hook up your laptop (more lightweight than a 360 or PS3! My 360 power brick weighs more than my laptop. Power brick is like 6 pounds whereas my laptop is something like 5.8 pounds) via HDMI to a TV? I use game consoles strictly for gaming (and chatting with friends while I play with the chatpad accessory that you attach to your 360 controller).

They usually have one of them tick boxes that says something like: "Don't show me this message in the future"

The VGChartz front page is a bit of a pain, it just keeps loading a 'there is something wrong with this page script' message. but i just think it's miffed at being last in the current console war, so i've just bookmarked the forum pages to avoid the home page.

worse one for it is allsp.com that one has so many pop ups that its a pain in the arse just clicking the O button over and over, but that the website's issue. at least it doesn't automatically open up extra pages all over your screen like it does on the PC.

ROFLMAO

says the company that made internet explorer 6 - 7 -8 hahhahahahah OMG AHAHAHAHAHAHA

Laugh all you want, but only a mental patient will choose the ps3 brower over internet explorer 6 onwards...

And too quote welsh bloke, "Spoken like a true victim of the brower wars."

hahhahahahah OMG AHAHAHAHAHAHA...

LOL....

actually ps3 browser get better score in rendering than IE 6 - 7

who cares?

ask anyone whats better to browse the internet on IE 6 or psN? IE hand down with the genral public...

its just common sense...

so you like jonas brothers too?.

it doesn't matter, even ps3 browser its crap it's better than IE 6 ON A DESKTOP.

people use it because the thing is bundled with windows XP and they don't know better, IE 6 it's a nightare for HTML standartization, it needs to die, and thanks to firefox and chrome it's finally happening.

like i said the general public is what matters, and most of of em sure as hell the dont give a shit about HTML standerdisation... only the tech geeks do lol...its so much easier browsing the web on IE, firefox etc. than ps3... and to most people, that's what matters... like i said...its just common sense...

they dont give a shit their pages don't load correctly? they do care.

you are using marketshare as way to say IE IS better it's not, it have marketshare because it bundled, not because people like it.

saleso of jonas are high, that doesnt mean they are good in music or good AT ALL-

And whats wrong with the joans brothers? some people like em some people dont...

Just like here, some people like IE some people dont. But most people don't mind.

Just face it, nobody's gonna notice the load times or html standerdisation crap of the ps3 browser compared to the IE. Just the tech savy geeks. Like most people i don't even notice how a page loads on IE compared to firefox, so i happily use both.

People just notice the convenience of surfing a web. An obviously IE is shitloads more convenient surfing the web than the crappy ps3 browser. I'll say it once and i'll say it again, give people the choice to surf the web on the shitty ps3 browser or IE on a pc or laptop with a mouse and keyboard, people will choose IE.

In the end, it doesn't matter what causes it, but people prefer convenience with surfing the web. A with the majority of users using IE more than the ps3 browser, that's all that matters. A there's no doubt that people prefer the convenience of surfing a web via IE on a laptop or PC with a mouse than ps3 browser. And i'll say it again, "its just common sense"

Your fanboyish nature is blinding you from that fact

Let's try to keep the thread civil. There is no need to call anyone fanboyish.

This is about what Aaron Greenberg said about the PS3's browser and how the 360 will not be getting one there was no mention of IE or the PC at all.

Edit: this is in response to both posters.

That's why it's bad and that's why Sony is mainly a hardware maker and not software, they can't write something feature rich without security holes so they decide to punish their users for their crappy software instead, I'm not trying to attack them, these are just things I notice from the moves they make and the directions they choose to go with many things in the past and current times.

PS3 browser over IE6 any day. The navigation is much better, even with the PS3 controller.
