Forums - Microsoft - Greenberg: PS3 Browser 'An Absolute Nightmare', No Future 360 Web Surfing

PS3 browser is pure garbage and it has to be that way to protect the system, which means it might as well not be there if it doesn't work the way that people want it to. Sony is in such a hurry to protect shit that they forget the important things like customer service and flexibility for the users, dumb fucking move, especially dumb in the America market, though no need to pay to play online, you win some and you loose some I guess.

OK, what i'm getting from this thread is:

- PS3 owners who use the browser, like it.

- PS3 users that don't use the browser, don't like it.

- Xbox owners don't like it and are pleased they can't browse the net on their TV using their 360.

Nothing is going to change the results of this argument by continuing it.

Sure I use it, if I want user created Themes, I'd just use the PS3 browser and look for them, but omg what a piece of shit everytime I boot it up, and this is me having a mouse and keyboard on the PS3 too, it's plain bad, and it should be, it's a console!

How many of you have your PCs hooked up to your HD TV? I know I do....

Thing is I'd still rather pop a movie on my pen drive and watch it on my PS3/360 rather than watch it off the PC!

Why?

Convenience! It's far more enjoyable to sit on the sofa and have a control next to you that plays, pauses, re-winds and so on at the click of a button rather than having to mess round with a mouse and keyboard, even if they're wireless.

Same goes for PS3 browser, so much better for catch-up TV and stuff than a PC browser when it comes to convenience of sitting back and watching some telly.

I haven't used my PS3's browser since I got my new laptop (it has built-in HDMI out \o/), but anyone who says the PS3's browser sucks has clearly never used the Wii's browser :PPPPP *barf*. Also, Sony shot themselves in the foot by only including 512kb of ram. Sometime try taking out all but 512k of your computer's ram and then browse the internet. That is the problem, not that the browser "sucks".

And wrt the OP's story, if the PS3's browser is "an absolute nightmare", I would think that MS would see that as an opportunity to gain a leg up on the competition.

It is almost impossible not to agree that the Wii's browser and the PS3's browser are both FAR inferior to even Internet Explorer 8 on a standard computer, so Mr. Aaron Greenberg: If you're reading this (:D), show us how to make a console browser work well. If nothing else, it will could spur Sony and Ninty to make their browsers better.

I don't think it's particularly easy to use, but i don't find it bad. I use a bluetooth keyboard with a touchpad and i find it alright for it's purpose. I have all my usual websites bookmarked, which is super fast to use, especially for checking the news, looking at twitter, watching Youtube, checking vgchartz forum or streamed videos.

of course, if i have anything more complicated to do on the net i use a computer

its about finding the right tool for the task. for most things i want to sit on my sofa for and look at through my TV, the PS browser works fine, especially since my PS3 is on whenever i'm in the house.

I'd have to say that guy is full of ****. When my gaming computer broke down and i was in the process of building a new one; my ps3 browser got me through hard times and allowed me to enjoy many pleasures my computer did. I could watch amine, TV shows like Dexter and many other things from streaming sites. When i only had a 360 i always wondered how my dreamcast had a web browser and the 360 cant provide me with one for 50 bucks a year.

MS would probably charge even more if they included a browser!

I use a wireless trackball and onscreen keyboard when im feeling too lazy to get the keyboard. Alternatively you can use the PC with a wireless controller which can also double as a gamepad. Alternativey again you can wait for Natal and use it as a multimedia centre.

Btw the actual playback of downloaded/stored movies is far superior on my HTPC than had I used the PS3.

Tease.
