Hmmm, do I want to sit down and watch "The Office" with my lady like this?

Or like this?

Yeah, that's my point, the PS3 browser is OBVIOUSLY a nightmare.

The two pictures above aren't mutually exclusive.
I have a ps3 in one room, but I dont in another room... guess what I do? connect my laptop to the tv via hdmi and watch the bluray that way
why cant I connect my laptop to a tv to watch tv catch up too???
Fact is neither is the future of TV watching.. Tv's now come with internet connectivity and on demand tv catch up services will be standard because of this.

That's a good way to burn out your laptop battery too.
I also never said it was the future of TV watching, but it is smarter than keeping a laptop constantly plugged in and quickly killing the battery. I don't know about you but I don't have $120 to waste on a new battery. PS3 is always hooked up to the TV so it is just more convenient for me since that same PS3 has Netflix too. Browser just comes in handy for newer seasons of my TV shows since Netflix gets many of them late.
Go sit through a few 10 hour TV show marathons with your laptop plugged in non stop and let me know how your battery feels. I know my PS3 will be feeling just fine, as will my laptop who;s battery was spared the unnecessary abuse.

well never had an issue with laptop batteries.... probably not sony ones.
my laptop is used all day every day at work and at home, only ever had one go on me and that was a new faulty one... so...?

#1. It's not a Sony laptop at all or a Sony battery.
#2. It is still a fact that laptops that are left on a charger for prolonged periods of time when it isn't needed does drain it's overall ability to hold a charge. Even if it does need to charge the battery still experiences wear and tear.
You're argument isn't making my solution look any worse than yours, in all honesty when you have a PS3 in your living room area already hooked up to the TV via HDMI and with a Wi-Fi connection it is more of a hassle hooking up the laptop. Why would I hook up something if I don't need it?
Just admit that the PS3 browser isn't useless.
iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.
