Forums - Gaming - Hardest Genre For You To Play?

The only thing I ever had trouble with was special moves in fighter games.... I do everything else great and kick butts.. but damn I doubt I ever managed to pull off ryu's shoryuken more than 20 times (on purpose and in a fight) in the SNES SFII... turbo actually helped for that =D

I rock at TvC though... but I use the wiimote+nunchuck (so basically special moves are special button+ direction).... gonna try to be serious and learn the real moves.

otherwise... I have a hard time playing talkfestRPGs like dragon age... cause I just have to listen to all the options and see all the outcomes otherwise I feel like I missed part of the game (it's ok when the game is good).

but gameplaywise...Mechwarrior on PC? I use about only 1/5th of the buttons...(not that it matters much, I just use more amo firing by salvos all the time)

FPS, especially online, and then hack'n'slash games. They can be so mindless. Unlike FPS, which if you havent practised for years, you're doomed.

soccer games: they are too anoying and it's difficult
puzzle games: this is difficult, in adventure games or fighting games when you get "the hang of it" it gets prett easy

Sports games like Fifa, Madden, those WWWFFWF-whatchamacallit wrestling ones, and all the NFHKL-icehockey/basketball stuff things. Games like that. I just can't bring myself to actually play them, they're just too mind-bogglingly boring, to me.

The hardest genre for me has always been SRPGs/tactical RPGs. Both because I've never been good at 'thinking ahead' and because I'm not a fan of them. I'm great at turn based RPGs and action RPG and even some text based RPGs. But when it comes to those SRPGs/tactical RPGs like Disgaea, Advance Wars or Final Fantasy Tactics, I just find myself getting bored and trying to find the easiest way to finish each level. And it turns out, the 'quickest' way to finish the level is actually the complete wrong way and you have to follow a set mechanic to complete levels or else you're fighting the game.

Six upcoming games you should look into:

My first thought is fighting games... usually there is too much dedication to memorizing combos for like 30 characters. Games like Tekken and the new street fighter, virtua fighter, marvel vs capcom, and blazblue, etc.

Only fighting games I really like are Dead or Alive series and Soul Caliber series because a new player can button mash their way to victory, especially in Soul Caliber. A Dead of Alive veteran could counter every move you throw though. I used to do that in DOA2 to my friends. haha.

But since I am good at a few fighting games and I do really enjoy them and beating up my friends I'm going to have to change my answer and say my hardest genre is sim racing. I'm looking at you Gran Turismo. I prefer arcade style racing. I hate needing to go into 2nd gear to make a turn at 30mph. Give me a chance to make the turn at 100mph!! I remember in GT3 I would just go straight into the wall.

Rhythm games, even though i play the piano, violin, guitar and drums.
having to "Click" the buttons at very high speed is challenging , with real instruments i have more freedom and they're really a lot easier to do.

I live for the burn...and the sting of pleasure...
I live for the sword, the steel, and the gun...

The hardest game for me to play is Madden. There is no particular genre that I find difficult. It is just Madden NFL games. The biggest problem is that unless you are an expert at NFL strategy and know every single teams weaknesses and strengths you have no chance at playing the game with any decent level skill.
Hell, they have been making it so ridiculous that you can't even get lucky more then 1 or 2 plays a game if you are not reading the other teams defense correctly.

*Besides, I hate that they took out the ability to nail the other teams QB after the whistle blows, now you get nailed with a penalty. That was half the fun of Madden before late in the PS2 era when the changed it.*

Fighting games. other than the WWE ones. I suck at all the others. My brain just can't process all the buttons and remember them all for some reason. But i'm great at strategy games, and RPGs.

...and sports games are hard for me to play because I get dead bored after 2 seconds.

RPG, I don't really like levelling stats
