Forums - Gaming - Bungie Rep: "PS3 is an option" O_O

BenVTrigger said:
right.....this will never happen. Bungie's ENTIRE fanbase is on the 360 considering they have never released a console game for any system other than the xbox brand, and because MS will literally pay them millions to keep it exclusive. Their saying things like this basically to get as much cash from MS as possible.

never heard about Oni?

@Booh!

Yes I have and I beat it.  It was also a complete commercial failure.

Let me correct myself.  Bungie on consoles has only released successful selling games on the Xbox.

This is pretty unprofessional for them to even suggest they have a valid complaint at Microsoft. They've been given their independence for FREE and the choice to work on whatever projects they like, now they're acting like they should get given the Halo IP too despite the fact Microsoft marketed the game to be the phenom it is.

Bungie wouldn't be the company they are today without Microsoft, they'd be wise to remember that.

A "halo style" FPS is just what the PS3 needs. They've got some FPS experiences but nothing that has the refinement, ballance, and expertise Bungie puts into their games. It would be interesting to see what Bungie would do with the PS3. Whether they would stick with smaller matches or go for bigger matches with dedicated servers.

Too late CGI, the hordes of rabid fanboys are coming to your doorstep as we speak

Hey PS3 guys, lets like Bungie since they are considering a halo game on the PS3! Oh and let's like HALO too!

Bring... back... Marathon...

Hackers are poor nerds who don't wash.

Also not to mention it just wouldn't make sense from even a developmental standpoint for them to go multi-plat. Reach will be the third game designed by them for the 360. Obviously they have the hardware figured out pretty good which thus decreases costs for developing the game and also alows for them to make games faster, better, cheaper, with bigger profits. Why would they in the middle of this gen switch over to PS3, have to higher an entire new team of people to figure out the PS3's very different architecture, and risk all that time and money on a platform that their games are never on? It just doesn't make fiscal sense. Like I said I think things like this are more of a bluff to pressure MS for cash.

The exact same could be said about Insomniac going multi-plat. Just doesn't make sense at this point.

They actually said "We are not looking at one particular piece of technology right now" which means the PSP, the Wii, the DS and anything is an option.

This.

It still doesn't change the fact that Microsoft has first rights to publish any of Bungie's games. Their games will only be played on systems Microsoft wants them to be played on. Doesn't Microsoft still own a minority stake in the company as well?
