The game was in development for xbox well before Sony picked it up. That would explain why the publisher profited but the developer didn't. (talking about Heavenly Sword).

They probablly completely scrapped the xbox version which probablly ate a good deal of money.

Expensive HD games are never a "good" business, imo. Good in a truly money making miracle aspect.
I really believe... I don't know, that for example Cooking Mama is gonna profit way more this gen than God of War/Heavy Rain and Yakuza combined, just to keep PS3's march releases.
Probably fair. Certainly if you're going to make a game like HS you should be aiming to at least break even from 1.5 Million units sold. If not, and you're releasing that early in the console's cycle with an unproven new IP, I'd have to question the developers business sense.
Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...
