Piracy, which is worse?

Video Games 33 30.84%

Movies 16 14.95%

Music 43 40.19%

Softwares 15 14.02%

Total:107

Video Games, since all the others have different ways to make money:

Software: There are a lot of non-private customers to sell to: companies, schools, universities, state administration, etc. - that doesn't work for all kinds of software though.

Music: concerts, radio, ads

Movies: cinema, TV, product placement

The only way I see video games making money without being effected by piracy is a ton of ads inside the games or a subscription-based system like most MMORPGs use.

stealing

Piracy is copyrights infridgement, not stealing. Get your facts straight.

I know, however, stealing is a gernalized term.  Of course "piracy" isnt literally taking anything away, and many can argue the term about it but piracy is also illegal copying, so therefor by obtaining a copy without paying IS stealing.

No. You're still trying to twist it into "stealing", which the RIAA/MPAA "educated" people into thinking so.

Both are illegal, yes. But they aren't the same.

I would think music is worst because it's the easiest. I don't know if they would be the worst effected though because of live performances.

I think it has more to do with file sizes.
Music files are generally a few megs and you can still d/l a full song quickly even with dial-up.

Music, because it's the only thing I pirate, and I think most people do it too.

Gaming piracy is pretty bad here too. I used to pirate games because in my country they're sold at abusevely (sp?) prices. But now I import from UK and japan, and it's all good! - so nice to have the original boxes and all that :D

What is the question. What gets pirated more. or what is morally worse? I dont get it

Im not trying to twist, but simply what would you call "obtaining something illegally without paying"?

The fact that the actual product wasnt purchased, generalized the term as 'stealing' thats all.  Technically yes piracy isnt stealing.  But to simplify for the uneducated its just easier to say 'stealing'.

But i guess i shouldve been more technical sorry.  Im sure others who's read my first post and saw that i used 'stealing' didnt mind i used that term because its just generally easy to understand.

You could simply call it "copy" instead of "stealing". Copy is easy to understand, too.

"obtainling something illegally without paying"?

Now, you're just being vague.
