Forums - Sony - Sony Explains why it passed on NATAL TECH

both techs are not going to be huge successes but my money is still on sony delivering many more hardcore games using the move, just the simple fact that the wand and sub controller have more buttons and freedom of movement then the conventional gamepad has now.

natal will fail

hmm ok.... why do you think it will fail

Because he has everything Playstation, and nothing else in his avatar?

Measure the action of magnetic fields?? It sounds like that was a typo for electromagnetic fields, which (considering that the PSeye cannot pick up radio, xray, gamma ray, microwave etc) means light. If you're going to try to sound technical, do it right

No, magnetic fields is right.

Recently people have been using magnetic fields with accelerometers and other inertial sensors to produce 3D orientation vectors, before you go bust somebody's chops, do research yourself, and stop trying to sound smart yourself explaining electromagnetic fields and light.....

Not to mention, the above mentioned waves are also electromagnetic.... (radio, microwave, etc)

If you are goin to try to sound technical, do it right.

Sony been in console gaming longer than MS. I think PS Move will do better and Natal will have alot of problems to me. I hope MS can make it work like they want it. If not I bet they will release it early before PS Move and I think alot of 360 fans will be unhappy.

Quick! Trash talk Natal to take attention away from Wii-too.

Interesting stuff. So Nintendo and Sony found the 3D camera to be useful, but not useful enough to justify the cost. I'm sure MS will let us know at E3 how well they've managed to control the costs

I was wondering when we were going to get a Wii-too or "Sony just copies everything from Nintendo." Took a little longer than I thought, actually. Seriously, though Galaki, if you're not going to add anything to the convo, except for "fanboy talking points", get out.

@ OP

Doesn't really give my anymore hope in Natal considering Nintendo and Sony both passed up on the tech. But who knows, maybe MS can pull it off. I do know that one developer, of the record, told IGN that he thought it was "shit", and wasn't giving him the performance MS promised. For MS sake, he better be the only one. Otherwise, I can see it being an over-hyped accessory that may die quickly. If that does happen, I don't see it ruining MS name completely, but it won't help them either.

As far as Move goes, it should see some success, as it's much easier to bring in the core gamer, as well. They may not bring in as many casual gamers as they want, but then can always fall on the core gamers if that happens.

My butt hurts sometime from sitting too long.
Actually, it's not hurting, just maybe a lil numb.

And how is it not on topic?
Sony decided to do a Wii-too.
And before anything, already trash talk and claimed to be more accurate than WM+.
All their "tech-demo" are resembling that of WiiSports/Resort.

And now talking about how Natal cannot do such and such and not reliable.

How about wait until they release the thing and show some solid facts before trash talking?
