And when you say unlimited do you actually get unlimited downloads or does your speed get capped when you download a certain amount? Here in Sydney I have a 20M/b connection but in practice the most I get is around 16M/b (2MB/sec) Also my download speed is reduced once I go over 30GB for the month :( |
Its probably up to around 12Mb but typically its somewhere between 800kb and 8Mb however PSN is always slow. It doesn't appear to be capped but it does depend on where I get it from. Microsoft are always fast and I can download an Xbox 360 game on demand in less time than it takes to download a 200MB PSN update like for instance Heavy Rain.
That's pretty sucky. I'm on 4Mbs download and it appears the speed on PSN is about the same as everything else. Still takes a while to download hundreds of MB, and downloading a multi-Gig game or demo is only an occasional thing esp since I'm on a 10Gig cap. OT I always fancied the idea of putting Linux on my PS3 and turning it into a "real" computer. But never got onto it and by the sounds of things it wasn't as good or easy a fit as Linux on a PC. So I'm only going to miss the idea of it, it's not going to have any practical or meaningful effect for me.
Well it only costs me $60 and im a bit of a download whore with Steam and illicit TV shows. Its an excellent replacement for the Sky service downloading all the TV shows like Heroes, Supernatural, Smallville, Breaking Bad, Dexter, Mentalist, Caprica, True Blood etc.
Don't you have a Slim model? If so you couldn't put Linux on even if you wanted to!
Tease.
