I hate these updates TBH, which is why I never log into PSN as they take ages for me and who wants to wait for stuff that doesn't add anything relevant to their console? In any case I don't see a problem with them otherwise and for people who can get them in a timely manner they get to enjoy them whereas they can take over an hour for me.

Well damn. Guess it is time to buy a slim and use my phat just as my media server (samba thru linux works MUCH better than the built-in MediaServer garbage) and a blueray player. Atleast the B/C will still work.

I was so pissed off when I heard rumor of this happening, but now I guess Im just disappointed. If it keeps the hackers at bay (or atleast slows them down) I guess that is something.

I never did get around to installing Linux on my PS3...and I guess I never will.

Personally, I think it's a bunch of bologna. It's also foolish to think that it Other OS is worth removing from ALL systems considering Slims already don't have it, and Slims already account for what? 30% of all PS3 sales? :p

IDK, there's just such a small percentage of PS3's, and geohot hasn't really opened up everything for pirating and such, not to mention how impractical it is to buy a Blu-Ray disc burner to pirate games. I honestly don't understand why they even bothered.
