Wow, I think PS3 hold the record for console with the most features axed off of it.

It also still holds the record for the most features in it.

I'm sure he didn't mean that in a trolling sense (I didn't get that, he has a point) you don't need to defend every single non happy shiny opinion against the PS3 you know?

It only does feature removal.

Who said that I thought he meant it as trolling? Get off my case. Thanks.

You always take offense to anything that isn't pro PS3, that or feel the need to combat it, is it physically impossible for you to just ignore stuff like that?

Guess they changed their minds.

skipping 3.20, and when has any other update ever been released on APR 1ST?

I am still calling this a APR fool's joke.

if they said it was 3.20 i would likely think it's true, but skipping 3.20..?

this sound's very much like it's a apr. fool's joke, because if you don't update you would still have the security exploit.

think sony want's people to buy more slim's ?

That's what I don't understand 3.2 was said to bring 3D. If Sony decided to take out OS they would have said 3.2 will now be the removal of the OS and 3.21 or 3.3 will be 3D. So I really don't believe this, though I don't care if it is true are not. I always thought sony might do it someday, and I love how people who don't have a PS3 care now.

The thought crossed my mind that some of the "outrage" over the issue is kind of like the type of outrage one might expect to hear if a law was passed that made it illegal for men to have abortions.

"But... men can't have babies!" you say?

That's not important; it's their right to have an abortion is what matters, even if they had no intention (to say nothing of the means) of having one in the first place.

Rumor: Sony to Remove OtherOS in Next PS3 Firmware Update

Friday, February 19, 2010

According to Owen Stampflee, a Linux Product Manager at Fixstars Corporation, Sony will remove OtherOS in the next http://ps3lite.com/wp-content/plugins/alinks/images/external.png) no-repeat scroll right center;" href="http://ps3store.us/">PS3 Firmware update due to the recent GeoHot PS3 Hack.

Although this comes as no surprise to http://ps3lite.com/wp-content/plugins/alinks/images/external.png) no-repeat scroll right center;" href="http://ps3store.us/">PlayStation 3 Slim owners, where OtherOS is already removed, it would contradict Sony’s previous statement to standard PS3 owners.

To quote: "Everyone,

I’ve caught a rumor from a reputable source that the next firmware update for old PS3s will remove the OtherOS feature…

I’m not sure if it’s true or not but it’s in the best interest of the YDL community to spread the word.

Cheers,
Owen"

Even with Other OS PS3 itself cannot really be hacked. There has to be something more to this, or why wouldn't they add a feature, and why is this "update" mandatory?
