Forums - Gaming Discussion - Halo fans are not true FPS gamers

If you ask a long time veteran of the FPS genre: "What are their favorite first-person shooters?"

They would say most or all of the following games listed here:

  • System Shock & System Shock 2
  • Doom, Doom II, and Doom 3
  • Half-Life & Half-Life 2
  • Far Cry
  • Painkiller
  • S.T.A.L.K.E.R.
  • Team Fortress Classic & Team Fortress 2
  • Starsiege Tribes & Tribes 2
  • Perfect Dark
  • GoldenEye 007
  • TimeSplitters, TimeSplitters 2, and TimeSplitter Future Perfect
  • Red Faction
  • Black
  • Deus Ex
  • Duke Nukem 3D
  • F.E.A.R.
  • Outlaws
  • No One Lives Forever 1 & 2
  • Battlefield 1942 & Battlefield 2
  • Crysis & Crysis Warhead
  • Quake, Quake II, & Quake II
  • Unreal Tournament, Unreal Tournament 2003, & Unreal Tournament 2004
  • Unreal
  • Left 4 Dead & Left 4 Dead 2
  • Descent
  • Ghost Recon
  • Rainbow Six, Rainbow Six, Six Rogue Spear, & Rainbow Six Raven Shield
  • Serious Sam
  • Medal of Honor Allied Assault
  • Marathon, Marathon 2, and Marathon Infinity
  • Turok & Turok 2
  • Wolfenstein 3D & Return to Castle Wolfenstein
  • Brothers in Arms
  • Prey
  • Battlezone
  • Call of Duty & Call of Duty 2

All of those gamesr are high quality first-person shooters for gamers with high standards.

Ask a Halo fan what their favorite First-Person shooters are and these are the following games they'll mention::

  • Halo CE, Halo 2, Halo 3, & Halo 3 ODST
  • BioShock A.K.A. System Shock 2's mentally handicapped cousin
  • Deus Ex Invisible War
  • Project Snowblind
  • Call of Duty 4, World at War, & Modern Warfare 2
  • Rainbow Six Vegas & Rainbow Six Vegas 2
  • Gears of War & Gears of War 2
  • Resistance Fall of Men & Resistance 2
  • Killzone 2
  • Pariah
  • Section 8
  • XIII
  • Fallout 3
  • F.E.A.R. 2
  • The Conduit
  • GoldenEye Rogue Agent
  • Red Steel
  • Red Faction 2
  • Turok (2008)
  • Haze
  • TimeShift

All of those are mediocre first-person shooters for gamers with low standards, some are overrated by the corrupt mainstream gaming media.

Call me a troll, hater, or an elitist but you cannot deny the cold hard truth and reality. 95% of passionate gamers and veteran FPS players are not Halo fans, fact of life.

What is a "true" FPS gamer?

Bet with Dr.A.Peter.Nintendo that Super Mario Galaxy 2 won't sell 15 million copies up to six months after it's release, the winner will get Avatar control for a week and signature control for a month.

Certainly not Halo fans.

You know what, games are meant to be fun.
That's all I'm gonna say.

Since when Gears of War was a FPS game?

ROFL @ this thread

thats a very scientific study you've got there. I will take this very seriously. (Yawn)

It amazes me the amount of hate Halo seems to garner.

Btw, Fallout 3 is not a FPS, nice try though.

themanwithnoname's law: As an America's sales or NPD thread grows longer, the probabilty of the comment "America = World" [sarcasticly] being made approaches 1.

So gamers that play FPS's, are not FPS gamers?
Huh.

I''m sorry but this just doesn't make sense at all.

I like some games from both lists you said. I don't know what you're trying to prove here, I guess make yourself look like some veteran FPS gamer from back in the day.

Just because someone likes Halo, but not counterstrike doesn't make them any less of a FPS fan.

A lot of things wrong with this post
1st up when was Fallout 3, or the gears of war series a first person shooter.
Gears is a third person shooter theres a huge differance buddy.
If you can't distinguish a first person shooter from a third person shooter than you Sir are not a real shooter fan.
